Kojima Productions Reopens: “The Legend Renews!”

The mistreated Hideo Kojima has finally been released from his bonds as his contract with the dastardly Konami has at last ended, allowing the revered developer to reopen Kojima Productions, acquiring a helping hand from Sony to produce his next ground-breaking title in the process.
An announcement video:
Joined by a handful of his former colleagues from when Kojima Productions still existed, Kojima hopes to give players an innovative experience with his new upcoming IP – this fresh start hopefully allow Kojima to get back into making such high-quality titles, and maybe even something without a protagonist named Snake in it.

A new series to surpass Metal Gear?!
I for one would really like to see something new from him that has nothing to do with Metal Gear imagine what his craziness could do to something like an RPG.
There's also some rumors about him resuming to work with Del Toro, just not with the Silent Hill title obviously. But not having an existing IP actually gives them more freedom, interested to see what comes out if it's true...

Well, technically wood is made of earth and water essence, metal of earth, water and fire essence, so metal includes wood. New materials like composite and nanotubes add small amounts of air essence and sprinklets of mana. The Chinese mostly control the production of rare earth essence, but mana is still in US' hands.

I could live with a "spiritual successor" of Metal Gear Acid.
A technical detail like that was no problem for Devil May Cry's creator, and then, Bayonetta was born. Kojima can easily do the same.

Fun fact: while Bayonetta, at first glance, is the type of character that would get feminazis up in arms, she is actually quite an example of a strong, independent woman that would make you think twice before contradicting her at anything.
So, in my book, she can have all the ass and boobs she wants. She also happens to have actual character and personality to back it up. Not that a feminazi would acknowledge the last part, anyway...

The man clearly wanted to finish with Metal Gear anyway. It's not that he hated the series, but when you spend most of your career making one game series, you'd want something different for creativity reasons.
Hope he makes something else or at least pick up his other IPs, if he can. A new ZOE or ZOE-like game is long overdue.
He could make an all new "silent hill" that isn't really solent hill. Silent hill games haven't been silent hill for a while anyway...
"Reopening" would imply that it's exactly the same studio. But it clearly isn't, as he only took a few key people with him, and he's hiring everyone else fresh.
That will likely be down to his staff being re absorbed into Konami. Much like how the key guys from Infinity Ward left after being treated like shit and took a few people with them who wanted to join their new studio.
Except it's exactly those "key" people who make the studio.
Exactly, going your own way is actually beneficial creativity if your studio has the money.
Look at how Yu Suzuki has his own studio(Ys.net) and has got back a lot of his original Shenmue team(Important people anyways..) from the Dreamcast days for Shenmue 3.

The story is ridiculously convoluted. The characters, on the other hand are compelling. Except Liquid Snake.
"Lost" (the TV series) also qualified as "ridiculously convoluted", but see how it turned out to be (very) popular.

Well, in Metal Gear there are porn mags and underdressed female co-protagonists. Heck, MGSV features a willfully mute sniper who is allergic to clothes and Portable Ops featured a loli and a mode to have long walks on the beach with said loli.
