Dubs are shit, and besides, I doubt any English translation could capture the way Chaika speaks in semi-broken Japanese, using a lot of kanji only expressions.
You should support your country just like the Japanese do buy experiencia English dub the voices may not be perfect but you know what highly doubt anyone that isn't fluent in Japanese can comprehend the emotions that goes into the artworks
@20:01 stop beautifying Eng dubs especially when it is done by muricans which sometimes carry accents that do not sits well with other western countries. Not to mention there were many mediocre voice actors in the mix but go ahead, praise your own country's "talents" all you want but you can't deny they aren't the best either.
You can enjoy her broken japanese even if you suck at it because she does, too. It's super cute but she's like the only redeeming quality of this anime, so yeah.
Also, you shouldn't support shit-quality stuff, because that sends the message of "shit-quality is good enough for the market".
conveying chaika or any character speaking using fragments or weird language structure isn't that hard if you ever watched........... well, anything.
your just bitching for no reason other than "jap dub good. eng dub bad" lol.
seriously, yuda's speech is very similar to chaika's.
Not for no reason imo, but i do agree, English dub isn't all that bad sometimes. It's just that the Japanese dub is way superior.
Except when it based on some place that speak English. The Baccano dub is better than the Japanese and think Black Lagoon is better in English too.
Speak for yourself mate, just because I criticized Eng dub, you had to immediately add in "jap dub good" when none of the above even mention anything close to it. We were talking about one specify character and you interpreted it as such? Good comprehension skill indeed!
Chaika on the front page!
I hope they fix the music while they're replacing the voice acting. Chaika was already a pretty mediocre fantasy anime without that godawful music making me cringe.
just like no game no life, i will watch this. watching an anime without staring at the bottom half of a screen is a bless regardless of what some weiabos says about eng voice acting.
You don't seems to be the type to but the DVDs or BDs but instead download for free if I might guess. If a dub for some reasons failed to appeal to some viewers like bad voice acting or laden with strange accents means the people who dislike them is weiabos (weeaboo)? Very nice logic there.
I hope Monica Rial retires one day. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard, yet she's in everything lol.
not until I can fuck her voice.
Kira Vincent-Davis is Chaika. She's an attractive VA, but doesn't have the voice for a teenager.
I just wish they would hire new more talented VA's that can voice the character rather than the old ADV VA's. Typically they are too old sounding (cause they themselves are old), have heavy american Texan accents and make no effort to mask it either. Also there's little to no direction and I get the impression they don't research the character and simply just turn up at the recording studio and do one read of their lines and head home again. Totally useless.
@11:48
What talent are you spouting about? Just because you understand the language and they sounds alright doesn't mean that they're talented. And isn't it a stereotyping that westerners talks in a low tone sometimes likened to robotic or monotone to some people?
For your information, many Seiyuu (voice actor/actress) are above 30 year-old but they can still voice young characters just fine. You were right that accents existed with some English VA, this all boils down to no talents.
go watch cahrlote episode 13 and tell me with a straight face that the acting was good after hearing the direction to the two lines of "who are you? oh my god?" guy.
as far as we know, the jap voice acting is shit, but we don't understand the language to know how a line should be delivered because all i hear most of the time are high ptched voices for most girls, and really weird sounding older women.
@23:51 Whether it is original or English dubs, the quality has nothing to do with languages but the way they are expressed. What I found to be boring and lack of emotions in general usually is from English dubs, as though some of them were talking in their sleeps...
Westerners usually talk in low tones even for girls since this is the norm of society but can you say the same when they screams? Which girl doesn't have high pitched voice, well of course not all of them. Cite some titles instead of vaguely giving one or two examples because you sounds very biased to me.
She was the English voice of Najica in Najica Blitz Tactics on of may favorite fan service anime from the early rise of anime in the '00. The commentary on the DVD is really funny too.
"The commentary on the DVD is really funny too."
Vaginica or something right?
Been a while since I watched that, I had the 2nd volume but sold it.
this series diden't need english dub cause japaanese only would have been just fine.
Does it matter? Don't the BD's these days give a choice between the original and the dub.
"these days"? It's been that way at least since DVDs 20 years ago.
Oh right, I just still feel like it was the 90's with VHS and CD's just a few years ago. Fuck I'm old...
Even in the 90's, there were dual language releases. But you had to buy seperate tapes. I remember renting the Black Jack movie on an official subbed VHS.
Watching anime in English is like eating soup with a fork.
LOL!
+1 internet point
Dubshit and knowing the west, censorshit.
Censoring what? It's moe, not fanservice.
No, anything that looks like lolis shall be entered into the list for censorship, they can't differentiate between moe and loli anyways.
then why does the dub for this anime exist if it were to be censored?
and as the other guy said, this dub doesn't have anything to censor anyway.
The trailer didn't have enough Chai-speak, so I can't make a judgment on the dub yet.
