The world-renowned life-sized Gundam stationed in Odaiba has become part of a special light-show in anticipation of Christmas, bound to draw many visitors and further elevate the massive mecha’s already astounding popularity.

Does people of this era cares, I think not. Many festivities has long lost their true meanings but we still celebrate such days because it gives people the excuse to indulge in luxuries.
The Chinese one is going to light up too. Sparks, cinders and explosions but it will still be "lit up".
