A mouth-watering new season of food battle anime Shokugeki no Soma has at last been served up to impatient diners, no doubt earning the hearty opportunity thanks to the many connoisseurs who took a liking to the show’s distinctive taste.
The news, delivered by none other than the famed Shonen Jump Magazine:
The manga will also be holding its 3rd recipe contest, allowing readers to submit photos and a recipe of their own unique dish to be featured in a future volume or earn a spot in a lottery for a special student notebook.

Sure, why not? It's not like JC Staff has made anything better in quite a long time, so they might as well milk this franchise while it still has a fandom.

Shana, ZnS, and Index/Railgun. Those should be the ones that most come to mind to the veteran anime watcher lol
I did like their Bakuman adaptation too. And their current 2-cour anime (HO, from the creator of Index) is also one my top favorite for this season too.
I'd say they know their stuff quite well :D
Hurrr Durrr.. you talk as if doing business is a bad thing, if it weren't for these "milking" we wouldn't have any animes to watch in the first place.
It's more like JC Staff haven't gotten such big project in a while, what you can produce is approximately equal to the budget on hands regardless of what products it is. Shokugeki is pretty hyped up so it isn't surprising sponsors are flooding in for this series, this is how the business world works.

I kinda liked the anime except for the eating orgasms, way over the top. So I don't mind a second season.
They toned them down after the running gag had played itself out, but their presence is still a running gag, they made them newer each time too, playing off the trope. It still works and is still entertaining, it's also an awesome visual gauge of quality of the food. I never thought I'd say this of fanservice, but it's actually a brilliant visual plot device.
Yeah, lol.
C'mon, the artist is an ero-mangaka, and quite the good one. The foodgasms were great! And to be fair, even males take part in it, so it isn't wholly for the fanservice only.
Still, Yukiheeland (prob appearing in next season) was the best of all foodgasms LOL

But older cooking stories in manga also has something quite similar to this "eating orgasms" especially Mister Ajikko but minus the ecchi part lol. I'd say this is a very original concept which give this series the chance to feature nudity with food in a tasteful manner.

I'm curious about what will happen if erina meet joichiro, will she be like a little puppy with him or do a little wife play or try to act normal. I think her view on soma will change quick to be on joichiro good side.
worry not, they're not yet met each other in the manga which is story-wise already far longer than the anime
it's prolly gonna happen much much later in the manga, maybe even near the end of the series; only speculation at this point though.

I thought it was quite smart the way the show allowed Megumi to prove her talent when she and Soma were up against that douchebag in the Shokugeki. The way they gave Soma a supporting role in that battle and pretty much made Megumi use her talents with Soma assisting to beat that guy and keep her place in the school.
Without doing that, you know Soma would have curbed stomped him and Megumi would have kept her place without doing anything of her own talent.
Probably one of my fav moments in the first season.
