The quickly ascending danger levels of One Punch Man have seemingly reached their zenith with the anime’s latest airing, as more formidable heroes are effortlessly dispatched by the show’s most powerful enemy yet; the fearsome foe being deftly eradicated by none other than Saitama’s one punch, possibly making all the drama pointless.

Woah, the editors dropped the ball with this article. Isn't that the whole purpose of this show? Not only that, but rather than the straightforward direction of build-up to climax, OPM delivers an alternative. The purpose of this episode was to express how, danger is relative to strength, and that honor is derived through putting yourself in danger. This is evident through the use of Saitama's speech. While a member of the crowd was calling the heroes useless, Saitama decides to discredit himself to give credit to the fallen. They wanted to assert the idea that Saitama feels he gave less than the other heroes simply because he wasn't in any real danger.
If a billionaire gave you $1000, that's barely worth anything to them. If I gave you $1000, that'd be a true gesture of generosity.
It's pretty black and white. I mean, they even drill it in your head further with King's story.
Exactly, Anonymous 19:29. The whole purpose of 'heroics' is that you do what is right even if it does put you into danger and the biggest heroes are the people who do that knowing they might not come out of it alive.
10/10 would fist men again
"the earth is in danger!!" by prophet old lady
Absolutely fucking amazing. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the direction the story is heading in, but whatever. These fight scenes are just too epic to not enjoy.
Hmm never got around to appreciating it that much compared to the others but I take it what makes this series so awesome are the fight scenes mostly?
it's mostly the novelty that attracts people,
what i meant is that we rarely have a MC who is that powerful right from the start~ it's hard to consider this shonen (since the definition of shonen implies a weak MC getting stronger litttle by little from training*** the typical shonen genre) this kind of novelty can become a new genre~ maybe
while i agree with everything you said, i think it's good to note that "shounen" simply means "young boy".
so as a genre, it is catered for "young boys~teenager". not saying everyone else have no right to read it.
also, if i recall, OPM is actually seinen.
that, and also the semantics of true heroism vs manufactured/paid heroics.
Jesus also died from nails, so yeah duh he is weak
16:29 anon, google longinus.
Even Jesus would NOW think twice before any action, in the real of the devil.
I guess I get it but then i dont really believe in true heroism cos i live in a very corrupt country and the only heroes i see are in the movies so this sadly doesnt resonate with me
it's a fictional animated stuff bruh. detach yourself from from reality while watching; it'll at least provide some ease from the burden of it.
"Also it has really good comedy."
^ +1
Also it has really good comedy.
It makes fun of the average self insert hero.
I like that every other hero and villain even if they are retarded are completely serious while he is sort of not
This episode makes a good analogy for the internet with that guy who just has to be a dick.
JUST READ THE WEBCOMIC ALREADY, YOU'LL NEVER GET TO THE GAROU ARC THIS WAY
Saitama is gonna punch a God next? I doubt even that could survive.
That's the premise of the story.
Children are the ream monsters in this show.
"You can do it!" he couldn't...
Problem with translation: "ganbatte!" means "do your best" or "work as hard as you can". He did.
How you not get a gif of the whole street being cleared of water when he punches! Amazing. Well the whole anti-climax notion is part of the episode. Everyone starts disbelieving the battle was hard because with him being so powerful. He makes it look like others are weaklings. So in counter he promotes the idea of it all being a trick by him-- taking credit for all the other heroes battle. Which keeps people cheering for the fallen heroes rather then dismissing them
Saitama = Rito from To Love-ru in his 20s.
This anime is stupid. Not because of the concept (it's totally awesome) but because Saitama could become a god among men, stop all world conflicts and build the ultimate society. Instead he live in cramped appartment, goes shopping, make a fool of himself and generally waste his strength.
motivation trumps all. if you dont want to do it, you just wont. people are selfish to a degree after all.
Good thing you are not in charge of anything with that kind of fascist mentality...
It's called comedy.
He could build the "ultimate society" but it would only because people fear his power and do what he said even if he tell people to do the right things. The true ultimate society that I think you ,may want is a society which every one (or almost everyone) do the right things, being kind and sympathetic to each other because of their own will but not because of fear. Otherwise... it would be the same society that we are living in right now.
draon ball super is shit
dragon
I hope that ungrateful fucking faggot who trashed talked heroes that risk their live to save them gets castrated with a serrated knife.
I wonder how Sonic and Snek survived Saitama's punches intact while the monsters turned into dead shish kebab.
He was holding back
He clear the rainclouds with the shockwave.
he always held back. and yes, that includes against monsters.
he can control the strength of the punches to a degree. he can use nonlethal punches on people like snek and sonic, and he's got his normal punches for people like the Sea King.
he's got a serious series of moves that'll show up in 3-4 episodes, but even that's him holding back. going all out, he could probably punch out the moon or even the earth if he really wanted to. he just doesn't have an upwards cap of how strong he can punch (much to his dismay)
So basically hes the bald non alien anime version of superman. no wonder people are constantly comparing them nowadays
again no he couldn't.
come back when his punches can bust planets then we'll talk.
Well, he will protect the planet from something that can destroy planets, so does that count?
ha no, superman could be called one-punch man too, but he's bound by the rules of his universe and he has to hold back or he'll destroy the world. (And of course PIS)
That's an incorrect comparison because, by definition, Saitama could beat Superman with ... one punch.
part of his life motivation is to find someone that can 'assist' him in finding the cap limit
Finding someone who can actually present a challenge to him, more like.
Namely, someone who can take more than one of his full-powered punches and hurt him just as badly as he can hurt them.
It's like Mad Max. Saitama isn't the big main character.
It's more like a parody.
More like Godzilla. Everyone else is trying to stop the big bad enemy Kaiju, but we all know Godzilla is going to finish em.
like it's rare for the hero to win the day after everything's said and done
this is the smartest comparison i have seen all day
