The latest entry into the Valkyria Chronicles series, “Valkyria: Azure Revolution“, has unveiled its captivating first trailer, introducing players to an impressive cinematic that might at least have fans reassured as to the quality of its cut-scenes but divulging nothing as concerns the all important gameplay.

The well-endowed cinematic:

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will spearhead its way into battle on the PS4 sometime in winter of 2016.

Fun fact people, this isn't an SRPG anymore. They are changing the battle system completely.

Hm, I only played the first one, but why are these idiots holding melee weapons when they could be using guns? I liked the first one for being a bit more...uh...not over the top except for the Valkyria.

Well there you go, they started adding melee weapons since VC2

The last shot shows what appears to be a squad on squad combat and the MC with the big ass sword using a rifle.

Lolita girl looks out of place. Very, out of place. I get it, fashion > function, but that's a bit too much. She might as well be wearing a wedding gown or dinner dress to war.

    Smart.

Uggh. One of the cool things about Valkyria Chronicles was that it didn't over use melee weapons in a clearly ranged-weapon dominated setting. Fuck you Sega. You've ruined it.

The art design looks different too, but what do you expect, bigger publisher equals changed and gutted to make money and alienate past fans.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 had plenty of melee weapons.

Valk Chronicles 2 wasn't that melee oriented, Valk 3...well IDK never played it...didn't release in the US. The melee aspect though in Valk 2 was out of place and was unneeded and frankly it was garbage despite Valk Chronicles 2 being a overall improvement Gameplay wise.. I hope this isn't some turn based Dynasty Warriors clone.

The Remaster of VC1 will come with the demo. But I heard only the first batch/ pre-order version will.

This means that the likelihood of Azure Revolution getting to the states depends on how much we support Sega by buying the Remaster. I know I'm doing my part.

I'll buy the VC1 remaster. Hopefully they add a few more chapters to the VC1 remaster or promise to remaster VC2 + VC3 in the future.
