Sankaku App Gains Rankings

The latest major release of the Sankaku App brings rankings to the fore, with top artists, series and characters all now freely browseable by ranking.
Version 1.2 also brings significant improvements to performance and memory usage, better blacklisting, and a much requested change to the default filename for saved files.
Rankings can be accessed from the main menu of the app (top left menu icon), and the options available allow a wide variety of different rankings to be explored. all based on the viewing, voting and favouriting preferences of other users.
As ever, it is freely available now in both Black and White editions.
As usual, questions, quandaries, qualms and quibbles are all welcomed via email or comments.

Why is there no IPHONE app
You can thank Apple's walled garden for that. Sankaku would be pulled off their store in a heartbeat. Even if it did get on there, it would only be the censored white version.

There's a security setting under the "Settings" app on your Android device that prevents you from installing things outside of the Google Play Store. You have to disable that, then transfer the downloaded APK to your phone's storage. Use your favorite file manager to open the folder where you stored the APK, and then tap on the file. It should prompt you to install.
Does the regular website in a pc web browser have those features too?

I don't know if i'm the only one, but after browsing for some time when i reach a certain point the images don't load or take forever to do so. Does this update fix that?
That might be as much a matter of your phone's internal memory as it might be a matter of the app's functioning. This site uses a lot of images, both still & moving, and thus uses a lot memory when it's pages are loaded and displayed. I haven't downloaded the app, but I've encountered the same problem when visiting the site by phone as my phone's free memory was eaten up by installing updates to apps I frequently use or feel need to stay updated for possible future use.
Thanks for the app. Speaking of suggestions: how about quick "popular" link (like on the website), info about amount of images with the chosen tags and the position of current image with minimized UI (X out of Y - you have to go to the info page for it to appear now) or when going back from the viewer, make it go to the position of the current image on the list instead of the position you were on when opening the image (like in the Pixiv app)? Would make it better IMO.

The ads are quite annoyingly placed in the app. Is there any way to adjust how, when and where they are placed. I understand they are needed as the source of revenue, but it would be nice to have them in a little more user friendly loction.
I agree. I would also like to suggest changing the nature of the adds. I'm kinda sick of seeing cocks and whores while I'm browsing. Also more download options would be fine, like changing what becomes the filename and the option to sort it in folders, kinda like how booru downloaders used to with tokens.

Just keep typing Sankaku into the Google Play search box and it will eventually show up, just as detailed in the installation guide below, which you've obviously already read.

If I type Sankaku there are 4 results and none of those have anything to do with the app.
