Terraformers is propaganda manga dude. Pay attention to all the powers at play in it, there is a lot of political undertones. They went out of their way to perpetuate black stereotypes and liking to roaches because they can be found anywhere- there is are small african communities in almost every country. The main antagonist are the Chinese. The creators seem super right wing.
Also, Japan is historically xenophobic as I'm sure you know and though getting killed for being black in Japan isn't a likely occurrence, you still receive just as much animosity in the less urban areas. Don't think because you don't care that the issue isn't important or doesn't exist.
