Well up until the start of Super, they actually were financially well off thanks to Ox King who was very wealthy. Well they are well off now thanks to Gohan marrying into money as well. I will point out one thing, Bulma actually had considered Goku for a potential partner had he not already married Chichi. She actually admitted that she missed out on bagging him for herself.

The author could never decide how he wanted a female super saiyan to look, which is why we never got one.
So before anyone says anything, this is the real reason Pan never went super saiyan, and has nothing to do with being at least half saiyan.
