As someone who wears contacts daily, I don't think that would work, since it would block the individual's vision.
Just make the heart part black and clear where the hole needs to be.
I wear contacts too, but I don't think it works that way. Aren't these anime contacts (and any color-altering contacts for that matter) completely see-through? They don't screw with the user's vision, but they do filter the outer coloring of the iris in order to give it a different appearance, at least to my understanding.
The pupil where light is let through is smaller than the iris, where the patterns on the contacts are. Blocking light to iris won't affect the vision at all.
I'm waiting for yandere contacts.

That many shines usually is on the verge of tears in manga and anime, the sparkles are nice though, but I'd like to see them in motion because the sparkle not matching lighting will fuck up perceptions.
