Internet denizens have been clamoring over YouTube’s announcement of “YouTube Red“, an ad-free subscription service soon to milk YouTube’s legion of lowest common denominator watchers.
New exclusive shows are also apparently being planned for the service, naturally featuring only the most esteemed and recognizable “YouTubers” to further their endeavors in attracting as many buyers as possible.
A CM for YouTube Red:
The service will cost $10 monthly, though whether it is on par with Netflix for more than just price remains to be seen (although it should easily have it beat for cat videos).

Seriously i cant hold myself.
WHo HASNT heard of adblucker yet xD.
FYI site owners allow adblockers to run on their sites... it's very easy to make it so people can't access their site with adblocker enabled... plus that youtube red allows you to download videos so you can view them in offline mode.. this helps me out massively when i'm riding home from work and going through the hills where my signal is spotty so i can have a playlist just for my rides home to and from work :)
I wonder how i Downloaded my videos all the time without youtube red... /sarcasm off
Now how do you think a video gets displayed on your computer?
Even a stream is essentially a download, it downloads the needed parts, displays them and then deletes it.
There's a ton of tools to save those videos and streams on your disk.
Especially for youtube there's one hell of a selection.
"Youtube red now offers downloads!"
"Oh really? Wow totally need that... not hahaha"
It's easy to block users using Adblock, but they don't because then it'd just be an arms race between people programming Adblock to work around the restrictions and people writing the restrictions.
It's not worth doing. I've seen some sites that tried and failed.
Most free adblockers are not working already and will result in YouTube streaming stalling if you do not disable it.....
Do you guys really think Google r idiots?
I´m using Youtube Enhancerand have never had any problems with ads, and if YT tries to do something to stop it the maker is updating it with a fix pretty fast :)
And who would be stupid enough to pay to see an idiot like pewdiepie have his own reality show....
uBlock origin works pretty well.
You'd be surprized how many idiots are on the internet these days, I mean even fridges and shit have it now.
1) most of these features are achieved with other extensions/blockers/apps
2) fuck them if this turns into an exclusive content media service
Yeah, but those apps also mean the people whose videos you're watching aren't making any ad revenue from your views. This is a way of avoiding ads while still supporting stuff.
You don´t really support them at all, those 10 bucks goes straight into YT pockets, the uploaders won´t see anything to that money.
Not to mention that it´s said that YT is going to actually INCREASE their share of the ad money.
So they take 40% now and it may go up to 50% or maybe even 60%...
that 10 bucks does not go straight in to youtubes pockets. about$4 does the rest is split up among the youtubers based on the viewers watched amount of content for videos.
You must understand youtube is a business owned by google...and google isn't even making money from youtube. Google is trying to rectify this problem.
You mean somebody like Pewdiepie is living on the Street now that i have my adblocker on and don pay him direct $$$ ?
Feel free to give your Paycheck directly to some donation, you goody two-shoes!
It seems every since they were bought by Google they been getting more and more anti user friendly.
If they go exclusive pay service maybe it'll be the straw that breaks the camel's back and people will start leaving in droves and the other video services will finally have a chance to become popular.
You mean like NicoNico has been for ages?
Google screwed up when it did buy youtube. They haven't been able to make money off of it yet.
I think it's safe to say that nobody would be using youtube if they had stayed independent. Or would you like to be watching 360p shit?
Vimeo anyone?
And so, countless children will be mercilessly slaughtered by their parents for searching "redtube".
I guess this means Youtube will start using coding that will block adblock users. IIRC Hulu bypasses adblock.
The maker of Adblock Plus supposedly got good $$$$ for letting certain sites show ads
in case those google faggots didn't realize, most of the people that hang over youtube have zero net profit and are either family leechers or kids that watch people that comment on people that play games
Even people who do have income cannot afford to pay $10 a month to use every website they access.
Paying that sort of fee to ten sites is $100 a month a cable TV bill 30 different sites it's now $300 a month or a car payment.
If I'm still going to see stupid kids posting craps on Youtube no matter which platforms, then no thanks.
So you complain about content quality, but you are also adverse to contribution for elevating it. Hypocrisy much.
there are ads on youtube?
something i asked myself....
YouTube is hoping that adblock users will sign up for YouTube Red to get rid of ads instead, of course what YouTube doesn't understand is the people who adblock on YouTube are just callous assholes who don't give two shits about supporting the site or the people that make the videos they enjoy.
The problem with their ads is they are often intrusive and mine data they can put ad content that is neither.
The sheer irony is they could put ads that are not targeted by simply having them added to the front of the video file.
These would be unblockable but you could still fast forward past them.
Why would I want to support attention seeking narcissists anyway? Don't these people just masturbate to the number of views they get and the sycophants that leave comments? These drama queens even get off arguing with negative commenters and other video bloggers! YouTube shouldn't be a real job.
The only people you help is YT who steals 40% of that ad revenue....
I want to be able to block and unblock people user by user. That way I can easily decide who I want to support and who gets ignored because I can only stand so many commercials.
Give me that and fuck Redtube:You
If it was just banners i'd not mind, but now its like shitton of flash ads, 60 second ads in videos and other garbage thats just intrusive as fuck. Once they go back to plain old simple banners, then i'll rmeove my adblocker, till then, they can go fuck themselves with their spammy shit. The full screen pop up ads thou are the worst, the ones that popup and popover the site your trying to get to. Shit like that is honestly WHY adblockers were made in the first place.
Hyperbole does not a good argument make. YouTube doesn't use popups of any kind and I've encountered a grand total 2 60 second long unskippable ads on YouTube in the last 5 years. Most ads are 30 seconds or less and the majority of them can be skipped after 5 seconds.
Cause i just disable ads for sites i want to help... uhh.
I donate to those sites.
And youtube directly doesnt get anything then.
No cut for youtube= perfect retaining for your donates~
Funny, you're funny. Only reason why I use adblock is because aids err ADs slow down the internet by shitloads. Before ADblock was installed, load time of a page was like at most one minute from time to time to load up all those goddamn ads. After I installed adblock, the load time became less than one second. Ahh heavenly. After that kind of awesomeness, its impossible to go back to aidridden pages.
Until the advertisers fix that problem I will continue to use adblock forever! But from what I've seen, advertisers would rather try to force the ads through the adblock than improve my internet experience so tough luck for them.
And I also cut the cord because AD time per tv show got too ridiculous. 5 minute of actual movie being shown for 8 to 12 minutes of ADs? No thanks. Cancelled my tv service and never went back. Did that in like uh 2009?
This is about YouTube where your complaint about load times doesn't apply, but good try there slick.
Paying with my time (=watching ads) seems really odd to me. Internet says minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, that's like $0.12 per minute. I don't really know what ads pay because there is apparently lots of secrecy involved, but if it's less then $0.12 per minute per user it's worse than minimum wage.
Minimum wages depends heavily on the country and even so, in a lot of countries is just a foreign concept, they don't have min wages.
I'd wager people earning less don't really have the buying power to be of interest to the advertisers in the first place.
Sorry, i dont give a shit about your opinion, i just dont have all fucking day to watch 45 seconds ads every fucking time, sometimes they are even longer and cant be skipped, shut your fucking pie mouth. Everyone can use whatever the fuck they want.. if people have a problem with that.. they should just get "real" fucking Jobs.
And when all the content creators leave YouTube because they had to get "real jobs" your sorry ass will be sitting their crying about how you miss all the great stuff that used to be on YouTube.
YouTube is like the McDonalds of the internet. You can always find better substitutes for its contents elsewhere it's just inconvenient.
shitty content creator will quit, good will get money through donation or any other sources.
Or like just get an ad blocker and never see ads anywhere, ever. Plus the virus protection of ad blockers incidentally afford.
I just hope this doesn't mean that they're going to start increasing the length and number of ads we see.
Length and number is determined by the content creator not youtube owners. I've seen some content creators be a real dick by putting 5~10 ads in their video. Granted they are long videos but still, 5+ ads is overkill.
Red Tube You :)
Google finally going full jew, huh.
So it is like regular YouTube with a YTD video ap and Ad Blocker, and torrents for "exclusive" content. Except that they want $120 a year now.
I'll keep my money, and use it for Patreon. There are enough rich fools who will subsidize my pirate ways for the rest of the channels.
