First two were not that great to begin with. Lazy animation *cell shade cgi, blacked out background characters* and a story that it would be polite to call WAY over arching.

Its like a book someone started writing when they were a teenager and never stopped writing, and yet, in spite of there being a million characters, they still decided to be lazy and fill in the background with shadows.

Only saving grace were the fight scenes, and they were extremely few and FAR between in the episodes.

So, your gripes are that it's simplistic and that background characters were shadows? Spoiler: it's based on existing fairy tales, meaning it's going to feel similar to a lot of things. Practically every single 'new' IP is based off of SOMETHING that's already been told, it's just a matter of how interesting you can make your version. Is RWBY the pinnacle of story telling? No, but it's unique enough in what it does to deserve some praise.

And, the shadow people were only present in the -first- season because there weren't enough people working on it to do anything more. They addressed this in 'behind the scenes' videos and even showed how much the background buildings had improved between seasons. Not that I expect you to watch the show, but you'd definitely see the difference in production quality if you had actually watched it.

By your logic, people should stop saying negative remarks about anime as well but do those haters care, I think not. Don't get me wrong, I'm also defending anime against haters but no matter how well your argument is, they will just say - it's the internet, I say what I want.

If having a "behind the scenes" footage actually offset the hatred, then you'd be surprised that anime companies had done that before but to no avail. People will still find faults with a show even if it is a "masterpiece", a pity that is part of the human nature...

lol. Most of these comments (I said most, not all) just feel like butt hurt people trying to cry about something other people like. Hey, it's the internet. The rest of us get it. How big and bad you can be behind those keyboards. Then again, it could be the crying of people that have never left a mark on any part of the world, outside a comment few people will see. Also knowing when they die, no one will really give a shit and they will have left nothing behind. Oh, aside from their comments. It's just a show. Not that great. Not that bad. But he managed to actually get it done and leave a mark. Grats and RIP.

I've watched volumes 1 and 2 and despite the fact they are not bankrolled for quality output like larger companies, they've done a fantastic job that has inspired a lot of cosplay and fan art.

Monty Oum's good fight choreography skills from his Dead Fantasy vids is what got me to try RWBY. Unfortunately, RWBY fell short with me due to the heavy usage of anime stereotypes. A mediocre series at best that gained popularity through hype, it always felt like it was trying too hard be something that it wasn't.

That said, it's a shame from some of the comments I'm seeing here about the quality of volume 3. Doesn't seem like a good way to honor his work by putting out something that takes such a nosedive.

18:46 that doesn't make any sense. Where you are born shouldn't influence the style you use. People should use the style they are comfortable with.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra were done in anime style and those were amazing.

Westerners should just stick to doing cartoons which is an art style unique to them, but then there were people arguing that anime and cartoon is just a differences between art styles...and look what we get here. Isn't the characters, story-line and almost everything just plain cliche if that is what haters of anime always had to say.

    Comment by Anonymous

I bet you people have every fujoshi and moblob series on blueray with preorder bonuses.

    19:03 19/10/2015 # ! Neutral (0)

Yeah, I did said if I recalled correctly but Korean has started to "copy" the anime styles very well, this I attribute to their similarity in cultures. Just look at the series Freezing, it were done by Koreans (both writer and artist). Unless the said westerners had been living in Japan since young, otherwise they won't be able to draw in anime styles which is associated with cuteness in general.

no, it is animated using Smith Micro's Poser software. it was monty's choice of animation software to do his fight scenes if i am not mistaken.

That software is ok if you want to do a simple pose with crude positioning, but animation on it must be horrible.
