Playboy: “No More Nudes!”

HughHefner-Playboy-Magazine

Legendary girly mag “Playboy” has revealed that it will no longer contain images of naked women, the declining magazine instead opting to revive its fortunes with “PG-13” imagery.

Playboy CEO Scott Flanders claims nude girls are superfluous:

“That battle has been fought and won. You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”

The magazine’s circulation has declined from a peak of some 6 million to only 800,000 today, although by removing nudity from its website their online traffic supposedly increased fourfold.

Whilst the fate of the physical magazine seems obvious, the Playboy brand is however still lucrative, at least when it comes to hawking fashion and other goods, and it seems likely this is a major focus of their future business.

The traditional “for the articles” excuse for reading may finally at least gain some credibility soon – its first non-nude publication is due in March.
