I recognized the Barf cosplays.... I'm pretty sure Spaceballs is older and less well known then Waynes World.
Maybe in the USA, but in the rest of the world Spaceballs, comes on top.
I am so glad i am not the only one who got from where are this cosplays coming from, a lot of 80's stuff. Ghost,Busters, Spaceballs, Conan, woo those were cool flicks!
I highly doubt this will get any praise from the Japanese. I imagine it will mostly be comments wondering why Americans are so fat/ugly, why the costumes are so bad, who most of the characters are, and why the attractive females aren't more scantily clad.
Huge difference between the people cosplaying in the above pictures as a hobby and the japanese (semi-)professional models doing their generic pose routines in their 10k outfits.
Tbh, I enjoyed these much more since some of them were actually funny and even the good ones looked like they were the result of that person's efforts.

Americans cosplay marvel and dc and starwars very good. As it is mostly males. Very few American women can pull off loli dfc tsundere imoutos. Just like very few Japanese men can do American superheros
That is because westerners generally have bigger body builds or you could translate that into bigger bone mass. However, only a handful of the males depicted here is lean (far from muscular) Women from the west also has bigger builds and heights than their eastern counterpart, unless very young girls is cosplaying the likes of loli, tsundere or imouto etc, but isn't practical since cosplay rarely involves children.
They even have Love Live! cosplayers here!

The only ones that caught my attention, are the turd/shit, I have no idea from what series is that turd from, the kid dressed as iron man, but that looks as if he wants out of all that, and the guy that looks like Conan was cool too.
Terribly amateur photography makes the decent to good cosplay look worse. Don't get all the weeaboo comments about the quality of cosplay compared to Japan... Japanese cosplay in general isn't anymore impressive. The best cosplayers and prop builders aren't in Japan. Most of them are here in the states. Stop being blind idiots and see the truth of things for once...

This is true. The first time recognizable cosplay occurred in conjunction with conventions was probably at the first World Science Fiction Convention in 1939. Forrest J Ackerman dressed up as a "futureman" for the event. (The costume appears to have been based on costumes in the movie Things to Come, bringing cosplay roots all the way back to H. G. Wells). The Japanese probably did not do cosplay in any appreciable way until Nobuyuki Takahashi saw it being done at the World Science Fiction Convention in 1984. There are a number of articles online about this.
That being said, I think Japan has perfected the art.
Not perfected. Whites start out looking much closer than anime couterparts. Big colored eyes and hair with white skin. Real Japs just can't compete without looking so fake.

Yeah, "big colored eyes" only applies when anyone regardless of races is indoors(which is the case in this list of pic), or are you being delusional that people can open their eyes wide when exposed to strong sunlight? Big eyes indeed, never been to da beach before?
