The emergence of yet another anime involving an academy that teaches students to fight has managed to prove more enthralling than most had initially anticipated, as “Antimagic Academy” offers a darker experience alongside a nonstop barrage of action, supplemented further with some occasional bunny girl service.
Omake:
This was the surprise of the season for me actually. I think I’ll stick with it.
No! Not another G anime with a GMMC…
You think episode 1 is dark? heh
ohtori hasn’t the right voice, but has the right body
it makes good ;p
How hard is to create a male character without being generic, seriously there are so fucking much personalities traits and they always chose the same
They would have stepped out of the “black/brown short haired with personality basically the same as 100 other MCs from other animes/mangas/games” if it weren’t for the fact that these characters are supposed to be “relatable” to the target “12-25 years old generic male” audience.
Relatability is overrated as hell, especially when it became an excuse to overuse the same trope over and over, characters like Yagami Light, Kogami Shinya or Kiritsugu aren’t relatable yet are much better written than these doofuses, and their animes sell much better than any of these, so hell if I know why author’s aren’t trying to make their characters unique even if only for the sake of selling more.
Light was designed to appeal to otaku power fantasies and delusions of intelligence.
See it’s this thing they do where they make the MC as bland as possible so that the male audience can imagine themselves (self insert) as the MC dealing with the many colorful and “deep” character females. A trend in which I never understood since I myself have a hard time self inserting even when I play a Visual Novel with a blank face MC lol.
I hope the trend dies soon. Lucky we have Valkirye Overdrive to deal with that.
Finally someine stated the obvius noone wanted to admit! Thank you anon you made my day brighter again! and no this is not sarcasm.
“Deep female characters”? You must be joking, tons of female characters from fanservice animes(I’m talking the vast majority of harem, moe and yuri) also are bland and are based of way, way, way overused archetypes.
Their personalities are not their selling point, it’s their appearances or exactly lack of personality and capability to act merely as a fetish vessels.
I’m not saying there aren’t any harem with well written females(or males for that matter), but you putting up Valkyrie Drive as an example is just hilarious.
You have never understood it yet here you are, posturing as one who is knowledgeable, wishing for its death.
The anime producers didn’t even bother customizing those male mc’s anymore.
