Mitsui Real Estate Residential has turned to the power of anime to promote their property, transforming massive buildings into equally gargantuan mechs that will surely appeal to younger and older generations alike and hopefully gull more of them into helpfully inflating Tokyo’s China-fueled real estate mini-bubble – if only such constructions were available to purchase.
The bizarre video:
Apparently an entire series has been planned, though how many units such a production will aid in the sale of certainly remains to be seen.

That is the most stupid thing I have ever seen.
I seriously doubt anyone will take this seriously. For a Japan-centric site you lot sometimes want to portray the Japanese as insanely stupid and over-the-top-eccentric. You should take a hard long look at some of your own country's commercials. I'm 99% positive there are some pretty f'ed up commercials floating around where you live. The same , of course, goes for me as well.
other than the occasional over the top super bowl ad, american ads are even more boring than the british.
I can only recall the one about a potato chip hitting on a girl, but is nothing compared to this.
Transforming apartment buildings are a bad idea. Does anyone remember the first macross transformation scene in "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross"?
I do and the problem was the lack of development plans and being in space, not the transformation itself. That's what happens when you teleport an island and take the refugees without a plan.
Transforming an autobot is danger too, does anyone remember how the protagonist die?
Aparently the scene in "Big", where tom hanks plays with an apartment complex-turned-robot, is directly inspired by the transformer's history.
They were meant to be houses instead of cars and vehicles.
now looking here... wtf.
i rather like the animation style.
Same, I'd definitely watch a whole action-style series with this kind of animation.
pure cg, even the people are made with polygons, a totally mechanical thing to the core.
trypticon would fuck their shit up
Good luck trying to get a home insurance from any company if the building is like that. You would need the insurance, though, since you would have to get new appliances, electronics, and furniture after that transformation. Too bad about the goldfish as well.
Gosaurer version 2
Chinese will get this on the news as such "Japan makes ready for war with giant robots" again.
Or the Chinese will try to beat them to it, with disastrous- or hilarious results.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................
Remember in the movie Big where the guy was pitching the concept of the giant robot toy that turned into a skyscraper and Josh Baskin (Tom Hanks) says, "I don't get it"? That's this.
my exact thoughts
Even if it were to work. Do you realize they are basically using the people's homes as armor? This has to be regarded as a war crime.
Precisely what I thought. This has got to be one of the most stupid choices for mecha-nization.
Not only that, but owning a flat that rotates during transformation/moving seems fairly inconvenient...
They really can make an anime for anything, go team architect.
I'm assuming they have some sort of inertial dampeners on those units during transformation...otherwise all the occupants would quickly end up as stains all over the walls.
oh Japan...
my uni scedule got fucked up. ty jp
