Gee I can't imagine why I never watched a single Dragon Ball episode.

"Dragon Ball" was more story in one episode than the whole "super (boring)" so far.
Whoever writes these blog posts about Dragon Ball Super on Sankaku has clearly never watched the original shows which were waaaaaaaaaaay more drawn out than Super has been. Super will be over in less than 50 episodes at this pace, while Z lasted for 291 episodes thanks to all the screaming and powering up for 5 episodes at a time.
i bet the TPP has something to do with this.
Just watch the movie. The animation is better and the fights end a lot quicker.
The movies were good and fun. Shit ended quickly but the presentation of it was all well made for what it was. How and why they decided to even make the first episodes of Super a recap is beyond me. Shit is horribly boring.
Its a bit sad when you think there can never be a kai version of it.
Sankaku can call Dragon Ball Super trash as much as they want, but it's better than 70% of the anime we are getting this season.

It's not a bad show it's just that the pacing is horrid and the battle has gone on for far too long. Sure, this was fine in the 90s but the 90s was 16 years ago and story-telling has (should have had) progressed so far...

When I found out that the Battle Of Gods & Resurrection of F movies were being adapted and revised to TV episodes, I dropped this almost immediately. I thought this show would've taken place after Resurrection of F, but boy was I wrong.
I'll stick to DragonBall KAI & its original material over this.

I loved DBZ, I actually am one of the few that really likes GT as well! I liked all the movies and did not care if they fit into the story or not (okay, Slugs movie and Android 13 Movie were baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, but still...) The only part about DBZ I did not liked at all was the Cell Saga.
Anyway, I loved both, battle of gods and RoF, but Dragonball Super so far is the worst thing We "Fans" have ever got! Not just because there is barely any story (as the original lacked that partly as well), but because it retcons too much of the original material, most importantly the ending of both, the manga, and DBZ.
I'll be honest:
It would have been the best if Dragonball would have stayed either dead, or at least has only becoming new movies and OVA's but not an entire new series...

To be honest, this is just painful to watch. I loved Dragon Ball back then and liked Z but by todays standard's DBS is just not cutting it anymore.
Fight scenes are bland and drawn out with lot's of unnecessary boxing etc. the story is more of the same, the characters are okay but of no significance anymore whatsoever. The animation is not worth talking over and DBS as it is is just trash only watchable for people with low standards since the movies are already released and with much better quality and pacing.
It will only start being worth watching for fans as soon (or late) as the new anime original arc is starting which will be estimated in just under a year.
I'd rather had watch Pilaf, Shu and Mai's adventures in finding the Dragon Balls to wish themselves kids again than watch a bad re-cut of the movie
The ending credits of everyone going in a picnic would of made for a better story arc than this water-down version of BoG.

When you think about it, the series shouldn't have happened and the 6th universe arc (which will be the only thing new) should have been either made into a new movie and make it a trilogy or not do battle of gods a tv show and also Resurrection F into the next arc. On some level this show just comes of as Toriyama was told to make it and he did all this to spite Toei. If anything Super should have just been a continuance after Uub and replacing the GT story altogether.
Actually, Toei is the one spearheading the anime and Toriyama is mostly following suit with the 6th universe arc and manga.
But most would agree that Super, is it is now, is pointless and a OVA or movie series would of been smarter. Hell, the DBS manga is 20x better and that's only 4 chapters right now.
Toei has ruin this series.
