Overlord has ended on a high note with the conclusion of a vitally important battle, drawing a positive reception from many as it additionally sets itself up for another season should it be so lucky – the show seemingly surpassing the initially low expectations some had for it.

Here's hoping for a second season.
It's currently undertracked on Oricon, with 4.6k estimated combined. However SoundScan included the Amazon sales unlike Oricon and has at 8.4k estimate.
Take whatever conclusions you want about its chances of getting a second season from that.
What kind of sales tend to be enough for a second season?
it really depends on the studio or whatever owns it but I heard at least 5k to break even
Around 4-5k is generally accepted as break even for studios for an average show. But there have been occasions where an anime has had further seasons with less. It all comes down to funding.
Madhouse. Sequels. Lol. This show is clearly someting to fill in for the season while they put more effort into One Punch Man.
I would say that it is more important what influence it has on the light novels sales than what it sells in this case.
You have to remember there is more than just the anime they make money from, there is all the figures, cards, posters and such, they probally make more off that stuff than they do off the anime blue rays themselves.
Same here
Hoping for second season, too
What this anime has taught me is that money solves everything. Git gud? You mean get cash items.
Well in games with a cash shop, money does solve your problems.
If you ever had hope for a new season just remember one thing: Madhouse...
Then don't get MadHouse to do it, it's not like they own the full rights to the IP. The author and the publisher likely does.
Can anyone explain the creepy eyeball appear at the back of Shalltear?
Alucard had dozens of eyes in some battle scenes too. Just a Vampire thing.
the fear skill aura released on her
Pretty much this. The book does a better job of pointing this out.
In my opinion, the eye was something similar to a camera or parasite in which those who controlled Shalltear, watched everything ..
Just watch the end of the conversation between the bishops and the knight..
Ainz hesitated and showed an opening, so aura used her breathe skill to distract shalltear
That eyeball was Aura. Basically it was directed killing intent. Whether born out of anger or disappointment in Shaltear for rebelling or support for Ainz since he hesitated in killing Shaltear, either way, it resulted in her stopping too which allowed Ainz to finish her.
It's also said in the LN, that Aura used a skill to make a flying eyeball to watch the fight.
in a real mmorpg, he is really broken player plus the game itself
how many times he self buff ? a lot, enough to protect all kinds of attack with pre caution trap spells
The sheer volume of buffs seems ridiculous and contrived but how can you say its broken when we know literally nothing about any other class from the game (at least from the anime)?
Actually, this is pretty normal for RPG's with high level endgame content. Buffs get passed around like a cheap slut in a room full of prisoners.
It should be noted that while 'Perfect Warrior' allowed Lord Ainz to ignore class and stat restrictions for the purposes of equipping his comrades' weapons and armour, it didn't grant him any of their class's stat bonuses nor their abilities.
He was fighting her purely with the power of the equipment's basic attacks, with no special abilities nor skills to augment his use of those weapons. The only reason he's able to stand on par with her is because her main class is Holy Magic Caster, albeit a max level one.
If he'd pulled that shit against a max level Warrior like Cocytus, no amount of armour would've stopped Cocytus from crushing him.
Is not that broken, it is just pay to win, he would have lost to Shalltear if he wasn't a Wallet Warrior.
He also had the armor and weapons collected from his whole guild for years, and time to prepare since Shalltear was disabled at first.
Seriously, she would have rekt his ass.
It's not just about who is the more powerful fighter, it's also about strategy, and Ains played her like a cheap violin. If she hadn't been disabled to start or he didn't have guildie weapons, he would have developed a different strategy, and still won. Since, as he said, he knew exactly what she was capable of, and what he had to overcome.
Madhouse doesn't do sequels... oh wait, BLACK LAGOON?!
10 years ago they did, couple of times, now they simply don't.
So apparently when I first accused Ainz of being a Gary Stu for OHKOing everything, people pointed to this battle and say "you'll see he's not so invincible at all".
Yeah, right, he's not invincible, now would anyone care to explain how "loljk I was intentionally taking all the damages" and "all of your moves had gone exactly as I've planned" and "you never had a chance of winning" not point to him being a Gary Stu?
This is as much as that time Kirito was saved from a lethal injection because he "forgot" to put off a fu*king electrode on his chest. You may point it as much as you want that the protagonist is vulnerable and could have been curbstomped under some other circumstances, if not for their adamantite plot armor.
This aint for you then. Just like one genre exists, many others also exist. You should stick to shounen stuff with weak main male characters and ultra aggressive and powerful women.
Well I'd know it's not for me from ep3, but people pointed to this battle and say it's gonna get better, and when it doesn't, all you had to say for yourself is to say I should go to whatever genre you think is dumb? Real mature, sir.
All the authors know how to do these days are to stroke their own ego, not to make a meaningful story.
Storys have that.. a protagonist winner and a villain the looser... even a winning villian is a protagonist ... it o ly changes the setting ... like underworld something no english native .. there is no gary stu in mýyyyyyyyy tv
Sorry but you need to get your reading skills checked if you think I'm complaining about "protagonist wins and villain losing".
The problem here, as is in all Gary Stu stories are that all conflicts has to serve to make the protagonist seem leagues better than everyone else, overpowering everyone, is always right at anything, get all the girls, and that's just self-centered wish fulfillment writing, like Twilight if you will.
It's not about the protagonist winning, it's about the story being dull and shallow because the protagonist is always oh so best at everything.
2 to 3 in soccer is not like 0 to 5 ... no... its a goddwmned fucking dedtruction of heaven earth and stfu complex.
Obviously enough ppl like that stuff for it to be everywhere. Different people have different tastes. Get over yourself and stick with pussie main characters.
Did we seriously reach a point where anybody who isn't a Gary Stu is a misspelled pussy? The fuck have light novels done to literacy and standards?
And i am now gonna play against protagonists to prove how wong that anime is
Don't you worry, kirito didn't have much plot armor in the next SAO arc
It's a max-level character in a low-level starting zone of an MMO-like settings.
What were you expecting?
Seeing the characters try to gather information on their new surroundings and build up a reputation is far more interesting than yet another shounen fantasy quest anime.
People watched this past the first episode?
