Toyota have unveiled an animated CM for their new Gundam-inspired vehicle, the Char Custom Auris II, which has unsurprisingly featured the legendary Char Aznable as well as a glorious ode to the revered Gundam franchise, all bound to garner buyers from the ranks of Gundam’s more dedicated fans.

God, so many elitists "OMG IT"S NOT A SPORTS CAR" here. Why does it need to be fast? It's got character and it's interesting, certainly if there were more of these type of things on road it wouldn't be so boring, instead we have a mixture of beige,silver, white and blacks clog up our roads and those pseudo sports car wanna be's. If it's not 'fast' than your maintenance and insurance is going to be cheap, so you can save money for more important things in life. I'd bet the resell value of this thing is going to remain quite high, unlike some trashed up worn up 'sports car'.
if you are paying $27K for a subcompact it damn well better be fast. if its not fast then it better be luxurious or at least have other redeeming features other than a bunch of stickers tacked all over it. as for maintinence costs, its always going to be high with japanese cars due to how complicated they are. even worse if you are one of the poor souls who actually imports one. as for resell value, it wont hold value any more than any other subcompact because its base simply isnt worth all that much. it will be worth no more than any shitty car with a bunch of decals all over it.
im sorry but if you are willing to pay $27K on an overpriced, overweight, and underpowered subcompact i think you have other things on your mind than saving money.

ive seen some ricer civics in my area that would eat this car for lunch.
a friend of mine bought a used one after retiring from the army for around $4K and put another $12K into it in engine bits, new gearbox, brakes, wheels, tires, suspension bits, new paint (complete with miku decals), and a few other things he didnt mention. he takes it to the drag strip on weekends and regularly beats proper sports cars (corvettes and the like) there. during the week its his daily driver. he's had it for about 5 years now and so far nothing significant has broken.
despite all the money for upgrades, it still costs less than a $27K toyota that can barely get out of its own way.
