akagami? late night? probably because it's too high flying for the current generations of braindead children.
"Braindead children" is going a bit too far. I am surprised it was late night though. I thought late night was always reserved for the otaku staple "ecchi" anime.
I'm more surprised Himouto was a late night anime.
so, Ushio to Tora... i skipped it because it looks kinda dull.
Am i wrong? Should i watch it after all?
yes, is basically a shounen well done, also the manga is really good
It is dull, I thought it was cool at first but dropped it after 2 episodes.
your loss
It's good if you like action and gags, the story is cool too.
Its watchable, although I stopped at episode 8
earlier episodes are a little episodic to introduce the characters and concepts. now the plot has already swung into action. do watch it.
no pretty boys like kirito in the show for sure. characters design is true blue gritty 90's style and the action scene's damn good. also contains best tsundere of the season.
The manga is one of the all time classics.
It does the monster of the week thing a while. Definitely a product of it's time, but that kinda makes it feel fresh these days. Having read the manga I can confirm it'll get really fucking good before it ends, but I can also see not lasting that long as a reasonable choice.
It was the monster slayer manga of the 90s alongside the Slayers series. It was truly underrated and its finally getting the recognition it deserves
Personally I enjoyed the old anime version a lot, considering its age. I am also enjoying this reboot, but seeing some of the episodes almost identical to the older version, kind of made me lose interest.
Regardless, seeing as how the animation has improved, while keeping it consistent to the original; and the plot and events updated to today's lifestyle and technology, it does become quite enjoyable.
It does seem to be more in tune with the manga, and the story is definitely progressing quite nicely, now that it isn't recycling so much from the old content.
Same as everything, it is a love or hate. Personally I will continue watching it.
It deviates from the old version after the Kamaitachi siblings issue and follows the manga more
it doesn't 'deviate', it's just some less important stuffs are skipped- in which the author himself chose which.
deviate wasnt the proper term. more like 'continues'
Thanks everyone, i guess i'll give it a try then.
How come Gakkou Gurashi is not on first place ?
cuz it had no budget
'Cause this list wasn't written by you?
Ushio to Tora number 1 ... WTF
because it's really good, just underrated and underwatched.
I realize we aren't used to seeing good taste win out.
An adaption of a beloved manga from the 90s.
Not everyone is unwilling to give a good throwback anime a shot, and sometimes a good classic is more deserving of a high ranking than all the other schlock on the list that we still enjoy, but won't stand up to scrutiny even a year later, let alone decades after the manga came out.
What about shokugeki no soma?
Not from this season.
Shimoneta not being number one is a disgrace.
Ushio and Tora is a great action anime why would you watch it late night? Prison School makes sense, but it should have been 1/2 with Shimoneta.
i agree. people probably dropped it early, thinking it's just another pointless fanservice anime and not see the real meaning behind all the things conveyed- especially on the whole prohibition thing and the new generation's ignorance towards love and sex ed.
Why the hell Himouto is a late night show...?
Or Working! or Akagami no Shirayukihime for that matter.
I don't think Ushio to Tora really needs to be a late night anime either, unless it's "too violent" for Japan.
it's quite violent though. if you remember, we already got people decapitated for a good number of times already in the aired episodes and they're not explicitly censored.
its a matter of time slot and depends which broadcasting station was aired
Not really late night as in it's too violent or sexual but it's a much cheaper time slot to purchase from the station.
Because it's been proven scientifically by non currtupt coke industry scientists that drinking soda triggers diabetes, tooth decay, lowers intelligence permanently, creates kidney stones and a lot more diseases in humans. If little kids were to watch this, eventhough is an enjoyable cartoon series, is very likely many would want to immitate those bad habits instead of drinking water or less or non harmful drinks. Fried potato chips have been linked to cause inflamation and cancer. Most junk food is poisonous in general on the long run, treating the diseases instead of preventing them is VERY costly, not just monetarily but for the body too. That's why is funny to watch the lead character indulge in junk food, cause she breaks the rules and it looks really funny. I hope that in season 2 she won't be fat with missing limbs and blind. She won't, but in real life that's what soda causes. Regarless, this anime rocks, very enjoyable.
Isn't Ushio to Tora just a remake of the 92 version? Is it different enough that it warrants watching the 2015 version?
If you bothered watching the 92 version and reading the manga then yes. 92 was just a few OVAs that focused on the first 3 volumes. It didnt even show the series at its finest unlike what its doing now and the visuals are good too. The only thing I wish it kept was the old opening song
Himouto Umaru-Chan was really enjoyable, so too was Shokugeki no soma. I hope both get more seasons, they were really cool.
