Gakkou Gurashi has bid a tear-filled goodbye as the series airs its final episode, leaving a brief cliffhanger that has caused many to demand a second season – though watchers seem to have given the series overall a positive appraisal, quite possibly due to its unusual combination of horror and moe.

They could've deviate from the manga and kill them all, or just leave the pink one. Yes, kill all except pink one, make her loose mind completely, let her fall into her imagined reality. Last shot would be: from her point of view. She's happy, everything is bright and everyone's happy. Her friends initiate group hugging procedure. Switch to real life. She stands drenched in blood with tears rolling out of closed eyes with a smile on her face, and arms reaching for a hug, when her undead friends close in to take bite. Roll credits.
It would be really beautifully grimdark.
beautiful, but leaves no leeway for 2nd season
And people have been complaining animes have been trying too hard to be "gritty".
You do understand the point of an ending is to give a closure to the audiences, not provoke complaints right? This ending has plot holes and isn't all too satisfying, but it gives a good closing statement for what this anime had been. If you're saying a semi-happy ending sucks, please tell me what's the artistic value in the ending you're suggesting than trying to shout "OH LOOK I'M SO MATURE FOR WRITING GRITTY STORIES".
Manga was 10 times better than this trash. The dog wasn't even supposed to be in the show. In the manga he was just in a flashback. Yet they spent a good chunk of the show and almost the entire last episode focusing on him. They skipped the helicopter scene completely. Yuuri had no character development at all in this adaptation. Too much filler (episode 9 especially). They toned down Miki's character. (In the manga she was much less accepting of Yuki's delusions while in the anime she accepted it rather quickly). They skipped some scenes like Kurumi visiting her abandoned house (just to make room for more useless filler like them playing in a pool).
Etc etc. Hell they can't even do a S2 without changing the entire story around because they left the teddy bear at the school. (read the manga and you'll know what I'm talking about).
KILL ALL THE BLOBS KILL ALL THE MOEBLOBS
I dunno if this will get Season 2. But its sold out on BD on Amazon Japan, so at least we know it won't flop.
Not enough content for a season 2, though. Although they did skip some parts from the manga, but I don't think that'd be enough in the end.
This has been a scary, tear-jerking, heart-warming anime. The ending is looking like to hint that S2 is coming.
Wait, WTF! I thought the dog zombified! What is this nonsense!
Yea, in the manga the dog was only there for something like 1 chapter during which they killed it because it was infected -_-
They found a antidote last episode if you bothered to keep up. Only issue was getting it to the ones who needed it which was resolved this episode.
No I don't bother because I don't watch the anime. I only read the manga where shit gets real and less moe-ness.
Once the zombie's bits and pieces inside die off the living parts are not enough to keep it alive. Basically, the cure killed the dog.
