You do understand that MK is only big in the U.S.. I don´t remember there being even a cabin in arcades over there. So I can understand the list because top ones have lots of cabins and that´s why MvC and other versus are lower because they´re old.

MK is ridiculously violent, over the top and goofy as fuck. Literally the opposite of edgy. Most of the shit on this list is less violent but comes off twice as edgy, like fucking Blazblue.

To all the fuckers asking why stuff like Killer Instinct or Mortal Kombat's isn't on the list: this list was made by and for Japanese gamers. Shot like KI or MK isn't popular in Japan. If the list was made almost anywhere else BUT Japan, you'd see KI and MK in those lists.

I agree with number one, the rest is not important, because it sucks anyway, I played a lot of other franchises, but in fighting games street fighter alpha 3 is only game, when you fully control character all time, not just watch stupid unstopable combos and its better than SF3 and 4 because gameplay matters, not graphics

Psychic Force had TWO games, and a COMPILATION DISC for the PS2. ONE sucked, the second was "good". Not great, just "Good". That one "Good" game was given two different names based on what system it was released on: PS2 on the PS1 & 2012 on the DC...just so people wouldn't wonder what happened to PS1 when they checked their DC section in the store.

I dont think Jojo, CvS, Psychic Force and even Darkstalkers should be in that list. When I think in top franchises, I think about installments in at least one decade, at least three games, most of them really good, and not dependent of external references, as manga, anime or hqs. There should be Samurai Shodown and Matrimelee, Capcom vs series should be only one item, Rival Schools and Last Blade are good but have not enough games. Seems like the editor remembered series and just called them "the top".

world heroes of all games is #9 lol. proof right there everyone voting on the list has no idea what a good fighting game is, seeing as world heroes was pretty terrible.
there are multiple reasons why MK didnt make the list. its its a "serious" fighter whereas the others are cartoony button spam fests. the japanese dont seem to like games that take themselves seriously for whatever reason. they want unrealistic boob physics, spammy controls (or simplistic combat rock-paper-scissors as is the case with DoA), and cartoony graphics above all else. the last good MK games were released when the primary demographic for gamers (children) were just being born or werent even born yet so they dont even know what a good MK game is. after the snes and arcade versions, the later sequels just became lameassed "guest star" games that offered nothing original, just like marvel vs capcom and capcom vs snk. this is the same reason killer instinct didnt make it on the list either.

Also, across the ENTiRE series, it is not a serious game ever played in tournaments. There are only a few exceptions, such as the recent couple titles, and again basically only in "white people land" tournaments.
Which whites? MK is popular with casual players from Russia and Eastern European countries. In US tournament streams I also see a lot of black people playing games like Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Blazblue, etc.
Black people, there fixed. Most whites dont care about MK, the blacks are the ones drawn to it because of the violence. Whites prefer Street fighter.
I'm delighted to see Jojo's high on the list, but even though I love it, it's nowhere near as good as the Arc Sys fighters. Blazblue and Guilty Gear are criminally low on the list. Glad to see Darkstalkers hanging on in there though.
That said, does Jojo's refer to the new 3D games, or the older (amazing) Capcom 2D fighters?
