Funimation aren't perfect, infact one of their Voice actors Scott Freeman got arrested for 8 counts of CP possession and imprisoned for 3 years in Texas. But it's a damn sight cheaper buying the inevitable American release over the Japanese.

I agree with that. The budget for the show was likely quite low considering the runtime. It wouldn't surprise me if they released on two BD volumes and really, it'd only need to sell a few thousand overall to make them money.
This crappy ending to a show was worth it just for Mage's glorious ass.
