Fantasy anime Overlord has catered to action-lovers by providing a healthy dose of intense action scenes, as the almighty Ains attempts to deal with a troublesome ally, all the while constantly reiterating that the anime is set within the confines of a game, certainly spoiling the mood for some.

the prebuff scene was so silly and pointless. none of those words mean anything to the audience! stop the padding and get on with it!
Have you never played an MMO before?
prebuffs are like a major thing before entering a raid boss, especially when Shalltear is one herself.
Of course it means stuff to a good portion of the audience
Playing an MMO means interacting with people, which I doubt op wants to do.
op probably thinks every other MMORPG animu ought to work like SAO does
It kinda would, if the anime explained what they were for. A few of those buffs had huge impact in that fight, but the anime chose to skip it from the LN to save time.
I'm really disappointed in the Goal of All Life is Death scene. It was supposed to show the obliteration of life from all things in the air and ground, but it just flashed white.
How would you animate "the air dying" XP
many settings have shown this as leaving Miasma in the air
I see it happening all the time in bathroom.
Well they can't do as the ln since the information that can be explained in an anime is limited compared to a novel.
and yeah, i think killing everything in the zone would've been kinda hard to animate for this anime.
I mean, most of characters depicted as scary or whatever end up just ugly... (go see Solution and Shalltear berserk...)
>padding
haha, no. this whole battle is condensed just to fit it in a mere 2 episodes.
You must not be a script writer or studied scripts. This whole battle was padded out compared to the LN which had superfluous explanations for everything. Take all of that out and you get a single episode.
watching hollywood butcher novels is not "studying" kiddo
Ains has a red orb on his chest may be thats a back up Mp reserve to restore his depleted Mp i could be wrong he didnt use his World level items yet.
nope
he will just use brute force by becoming warrior instead of magic caster and make Shaltear into submission
He was only able to beat the others with brute strength because in MMO sense he is like a level 100 caster running around in a zone with with level 1-30's...Shaltear would be like a level 100 melee type so he would be crushed in battle of strength.
I don't like spoiling, but since the one above did i'll explain.
I don't know if they said it in the anime, but basically Ainz possess a spell that make him a lv 100 warrior, since shalltear isn't 100% melee type, she'll be at disadvantage since she is out of mana.
But yeah, the anime is fun to watch, but nothing more really.
Guess they won't allow us to get familiar with their combat\magic system. That's very sad cause i don't understand much from those battles. Still i like this kinda of anime with fantasy\mmorpg like setting. I hope the next season would be more complex with interesting battles.
Read the LN and you'll get it
Basically buffs of whatever, magical blast of whatever, and physical skill of whatever.
I know it feels like they're just throwing out names randomly, but imagine if you even need to spend 30 seconds explaining what each one does, then entire episodes would be devoted to simply elaborating the combos of buffs these people love to chain so much.
Go play WoW or FFARR or something and then you'll find out.

oh japan, so disturbing. but never change pls. haha
Thank you so much Anon
Its a good show and I love the setting its in, but man oh man is it slow paced.
It's actually quite rushed compared to the LN =P
Wait.... isn't Overlord meant to be only 12 eps?!
OH GODDAMNIT THEY DIDN'T FINISH THE AINZ VS SHALLTEAR FIGHT?!
*flips table*
13 episodes =)
Thanks God!
It's so cute how Shalltear thinks she's about to defeat Ains, when he's about to school her hard. They're gonna take that notion off the table right quick.
In fairness, she's being controlled/manipulated.
We interrupt this episode of Overlord to bring you Sharknado!
Currently the 10th best seller overall on Amazon Japan. Hello Season two. I can see you.
