Square Enix have continued to milk the absurd popularity of its Kingdom Hearts franchise by unveiling a new trailer at TGS for the latest entry into the series, confusingly titled “Kingdom Hearts II.8 Final Chapter Prologue” – which possesses more of the cheesy melodrama that so many often berate the franchise for.

KH is shaping up more and more to be a second Metal Gear in terms of confusing Storytelling.
This is further proven by rehashing old Games mixed with new
Games and Storyelements.
Kingdom Hearts was fun when it was simple and clean, K1-K2. It's way too complex now.

Except this is part of the main storyline. Every single game that has come out has been part of the main storyline. Maybe you should have actually played some of them before assuming it's unnecessary nonsense.

Great, another game I will have to play to get the entire story...
This game will take place form the perspective of Aqua. If you've played Birth By Sleep you'd know her story is unresolved.
Trying really hard with those titles huh?
To be fair, they needed something like this. If you complete Birth By Sleep properly, you would have seen a secret scene with Aqua stuck in the world of darkness. Her story is pretty much needed to be told at this point, how does she get out?
We won't know for sure till Kingdom Hearts 3.1456/0 HD port from the PS 3D Nintendo Vita.
By including it in the main series instead of 18 side titles.
What about those who haven't played Birth By Sleep? They would have no reason to care about Aqua, they would want more Sora/Riku. The game by its very nature was a spinoff based in the same universe and would have only been bought by the hardcore fans. The casuals would have no reason to care about Aqua.

Without spoilers? Hmm...well, Kairi survived due to something Aqua did for Kairi as a little girl (as opposed to setting her up to become a Keyblade Wielder...which happened anyways due to where her Heart wound-up in KH1), and Namine was a blonde for the same reasons Roxas was (since again where her Heart wound-up).
You DO realize that Birth By Sleep fully explains how Kairi was able to survive the Darkness attack on Destiny Islands and how her heart came to be where it did; Why Namine was a blonde; Why Riku walked the path he did, Just why Sora not only became the Hero of the story but also why his Other Half (Third?) was blonde as well (since all the other Nobodies looked like their original forms).
It also explains the formation of SEVERAL key Worlds in the series; What was up with Xehanort's "Nobody" in KHII talking to that empty suit of armor in the Final Mix version; How Maleficent & Pete wound-up working together and became interested in the Keyblades to begin with; What the Real Keyblade is & what it does; The backstory to the entire series and a general overview of how the Worlds became separated; How the King of Radiant Garden wound up overthrown & playing the part of "DiZ", The formation of Organization XIII...

Actually the secret cutscene with Aqua in the World of Darkness in Birth by Sleep pretty much confirmed Square Enix wanted to do a sequel. She pretty much gave up everything to try and save Terra but ultimately failed and is the light in the dark world ;)

Will someone finally put Square Enix out of its ever loving misery already. One more Bad Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, or any other diluted franchises we they've destroyed (which were actually considered good games once). I liked the first KH, FF 7-10.1, Star Ocean 2/3... But SE hasn't produced a single hit since....
Though I like LORD of VERMILION ARENA.
As well as Fantasy Earth Zero.
Also, Schoolgirls Strikers.
And some friends of mine even like Final Fantasy XV.
You know how it is, there are those that scream:
"We need new and Innovative Games!",
and those Games usually sell like 50k Units.
And then there are those stupidly repetive Franchises (CoD,BF,PES,FIFA...)which had their last innovation about 10 Years ago and still sell several Million Units.
So yeah, as long as Gamers keep following the same shemes so long do we so Franchasise rehashed to death, because it sells right?
