The next entry into the Resident Evil franchise, “Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps”, may yet again be met with negative criticism as the multiplayer third-person shooter caters to lovers of mindless gun-toting action – leaving long-time fans of the series to wonder whether the original pioneer of the survival horror genre will ever reanimate, or instead merely be reduced to “Call of Biohazard”.

The game’s action-heavy trailer, which has surprisingly bothered to show some zombies, albeit for a split second:

Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps will arrive sometime in 2016 for the PS4 and PC, but those uninterested may at least have the Resident Evil 2 remake to look forward to.

Why do you blame Capcom? Capcom just caters to demand. People buy this shit, so Capcom makes more of this shit. So, blame stupid gamers, those shit eaters who buy this.

Remember fáágs, this is just a taste of what all future games will look like, now that the Japanese console market is completely dead. Japane's declining birthrate killed officially console gaming. Enjoy your soulless GááyStation4, fáágs.

Declining birthrates had nothing to do with it. The majority of Japanese gamers prefer portables over consoles.

    07:08 17/09/2015 # ! Neutral (+0.2)

    HAHA, NO.

Portables have taken over the Japanese gaming market because Japan's rapidly aging population spends more time sleeping in capsule hotels, sleeping under their desks, riding the train, etc.

In Japan only children & NEET have enough free time at home to spend in front of an actual television, where a console can be found, and since there are less children being produced, that translates to a decline in console sales. So yes, Japan's decline in console sales is in fact directly linked to their declining birth rates.

Now suck my fúcking díck, cause you fáágs just got schooled.

This is absolutely right. If you look at any successful PSP/3DS/Vita etc game in Japan, first week sales you'll looking at anything from 100k onwards.

Then again most of them live in tiny flats with barely enough space to put a full-sized tower AND everything else and still have space to lay down a futon.

Speaking of that, I wonder when Namco Bandai will be creative with their Tales of games. Don't get me wrong, they're okay. But they basically rehash the same shit with regards to the stories and characters.

DS1 was excellent, but then the EA suits had to stick their dick in the gravy with DS3 by turning it into a cover shooter with humans enemies that shot back.

THINK first before you write down your stupidity: Dead Space is at least 10000 times better than the last Resident Evil. Even DS3 is a master piece compared to this bullshit!

And now get your pants on and hurry back to your Counter Strike and Call of something, son. I'm finished with you.

Uh, Silent Hill went down the tubes in recent years, which is no surprise why, Konami.

I always viewed Dead Space as more of a action series with horror elements than an actual survival horror series.

if you believe the same slow boring slogfest "fps in name only" cheap scare horror games and half-assed counterstrike clones should continue sure.

meanwhile us true fps players have suffered for nearly a decade without a proper first person twitch shooter thanks to the neverending popularity of casual first person horror games amongst edgy children and half-assed ports of console shooters that are intentionally gimped to make up for the limitations of using a gamepad versus the proper keyboard and mouse setup that intended.

also, to call resident evil umbrella corps "action packed" is a goddamn joke. the only people who would consider it to be such are fat lazy neckbeards who have zero reaction time and children who are too young to be playing the genre in the first place.

Look good sir you may be an FPS game, and us horror survival players are upset that Resident Evil is some half-assed hybrid of an FPS with small jump scare horror elements.

That's the problem with the current Resident Evil. It's neither a survival horror game nor a true shooter game. It's trash, a FPS/TPS wannabe for faster pace, blow up zombies kinda game with zero survivor horror aspects. Don't even call the current Resident evil a first person horror game, or an actual horror game for the matter of fact. It's a nothing, a pile of trash.

But really, the last time I actually enjoyed a FPS game was Wolfenstein where bullets are flying from all directions and I have to run, gun, and run to collect health and armour. I also still boot up Shadow Warrior from time to time.

    I really miss Unreal Tournament.

If they did it would not be a "Re-make" would it?

They may change something like they did in RE!, but the story, characters and gameplay will be the same.

If you want survival horror you could also try RE Revelation, it´s actually good and more true to the first games than any of the newer ones.

Probably, the RE2 of yesteryear was designed with the N64/PS1 in mind. I guess they would want to modernised it somewhat with layouts and locations and in turn change the game in to a lock en load shoot em up.

Just looked at the youtube description and they priced "Umbrella Corps" at a mere 30USD. Digital download only. Meaning that this is pretty much just a glorified "tech demo", to base reactions off and be used for "future titles". And seeing as Resident Evil 2 "remake" in the next game in development, I'd say without a doubt it'll play the exact same way.

Not to argue but, Doom is not a survival horror. It's a shooter with a horror element. At no point in Doom did you have to try to figure out how to get out of a hallway with 5 demons with only 2 bullets in the chamber. The Survival element in the game is no different than any other shooter. Dont get me wrong I LOVE DOOM!!!

There is no argument. You're absolutely right, Doom is not even remotely a survival horror. The devs themselves even compared it to porn. Doom by design is a quick brain wank for your power fantasy needs.

Doom had something to do with survival if you pumped up the difficulty level and played without cheats and shit
