Forget about the girls, we already know what happened and what will happen to them afterwards according to the manga.However, they let Taromaru lived longer in the anime than in the manga. Plot is simply "something that happens". "They clean the pool" is plot. How they clean the pool is characterization.

It's mixed up, the anime and manga are different in flow but have the same idea. There are parts that are not in the manga show in the anime and how they start it.

Got to be honest, it would have more impact if every zombie survivor story didn't end like this. If you've watched even a few survival based TV shows and movies, it can quickly start to feel like you've seen it all.

While I love the girls and the show is great, I warn everyone that the studio decided to do it differently than the manga for good reason.
I guarantee you that all of you people moaning about moe and drama, you keep watching it because you love it and are excited for the next episode because of the brilliant director.
You will all be surprised at how it ends, and you will buy the BDs.
