A new trailer for “Shingeki no Kyojin: End of the World”, the second live action movie adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin, has arrived, promising more compelling CG and action scenes than ever before while hopefully rectifying some of the complaints about the original attempt too.
The trailer, which is rife with spoilers from the first film:
Another 30 second trailer:
The first film made its highly anticipated debut on August 1st in Japan but was heavily critiqued by watchers for its heretical deviations from the source material; the 2nd live action film is set to arrive September 19th, so whether it faces the same fate will be known soon enough.

That first film was sooo far removed from the source and where's my main beast LEVI!!!
Let's see there's Eren, Hange and uh...
Uh...
I see Misaka, Erenogito, Hangemiyura, Steinayama, Arminazama etc...
Trash!
so misaka wasn't supposed to be the last japanese on earth? cos it sure looks like there isn't anything but yaps there! oh and cheap acting as usual, I'll watch it for the sake of it but I hope they'll make a proper big budget movie someday, and not like the DBZ kind of crap
maybe because it's a japanese movie? Hollywood portrays asians with white actors so i don't see the difference
When exactly have they done that in recent years? And please don't bring up DBZ: Revolution or that God awful Avatar: TLAB adaptation. Only one I can think of is Tom Cruise as Keiji in Edge of Tomorrow (All You Need is Kill).
Saying "because it's a japanese movie" is a poor excuse for racial misrepresentation.
True. To be honest it isn't that hard to get actors from over-seas but the Japanese aren't too overly ambitious when it comes to movies unfortunately.

How about this.
They couldn't cast Gaijins either due to:
- Lack of budget, Japanese studios aren't Hollywood and in case you weren't aware, buying actors from overseas isn't cheap.
- Lack of Gaijins who can speak fluent Japanese, because at the end of the day, they're making a movie for the Japanfolks, and I'm sure having Gaijins speaking Japanrish would make this movie a comedy rather than action. Heck, even Hollywood can't be bothered make their Gaijin actors speak fluent Japanese(see Godzilla 2014 for example).
So yes, it is more or less that the studio chooses not to care, I personally wouldn't care for a live action version of animes to begin with anyway so whatever.
They wouldn't even need actors but it seems like they forgot blonde wigs exist..
The live-action Kite adaptation came out in 2014. It starred India Eisley as Sawa (yes, they kept the Japanese names), Samuel L. Jackson as Akai, & Callan McAuliffe as Oburi.
It was announced earlier this year that Scarlett Johansson was cast to play Motoko Kusanagi in the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell; with the added convenience that since her body is prosthetic, she can be played by a non-Asian actress.
people flipped there shit when Johnny Storm was turned black, but change the entire cast no one is allowed to say shit
I'm sure you see people "allowed to say shit" plenty enough in this thread alone.
1st one was pretty damn good... i dont see anime anymore nor have i seen the anime of this but the movie was good
I guess the movie would only be good for those who haven't seen/read the anime/manga.
... not that the manga is any good recently.
i'm not sure about this but there's a few circulation about 3-episode TV prequel based on the movie but only a handful of sites had talk about it and that's all.
erghh that Shikishima guy is so fucking annoying.
Stupid smirk, and just cool for the sake of being cool.
What a pointless, bland character.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Enduza Wardo looks same poopy.
welp, at least it looks better than DBZ the movie.. is that asian Armin? OMG where's all the blonde!!
Everyone is asian.
1st movie sucked I expect the same from this one
Oh look, some Wire fu action
Heretical Deviation? The changes was requested and approved by Isayama Hajime himself you know :( anyone criticizing this film just because the story deviates from the manga is the heretic one.
