Ok let me EXPLAIN it to you people in case you still aren't in on it.
The wimpy guy protagonist is in fact a devious villain who has committed many appalling and horrible acts in the course of his screen life (the likes of Shinji Matou or Zolf Kimblee come to mind). After dying at the conclusion of an anime (or perhaps inevitably afterwards) he is placed into a karmic redemptory hell that he must endure for countess thousands of years.
So he has a choice. He is given the option to be sent to a tropical beach paradise where he is to put on the airs of this impossibly beta male and be surrounded by gorgeous harem of babes that he MUST NEVER touch or get romantically involved with in any way, no matter what happens. Or if he fails that, then the very instant, he is immediately cast down to a real fiery hell where he has to spend eternity with ass poker devils and Pauly Shore.
