Story - the part with Lelei talking about how she is a nomad, so the Empire does not matter to her, should have had the the responses of Tuka ("Me also! I'm an elf") and Rory's smug, I'm older than your Empire face.
Absolutely agree. Never good when you're actively removing detail from a character. Persia's tiger stripes! And never good when taking reason away from a main character's thought process.
I cannot fathom the design, they made the same mistake as the maou mayusha anime and should have taken the manga design as it would have suited an anime much better.

The one in the anime actually took the ORIGINAL Web novel designs, not the manga.
Protip: never expect a adaptation to be as good as the orignal in anyway, if anything hope they get it close at best. If you think this way you'll enjoy it more I think. Me? I never knew GATE existed till the anime, and I decided to check ep 1 out yesterday, I then downloaded all subbed eps at 720p and watched them all in 1 shot. Once the anime is done I'll probally read the manga to, or i'll read the manga now up to whatever chapter matches up with the current anime ep, which would be whichever chapter it is the girls are about to go thru the gate to japan.
