I don't know about you but seriously think that that retractable blade knife is not that good of a weapon of choice.
But easily hidden and lower chance of hurting yourself carrying it. They are also exempt in some ways from blade laws in japan unlike a regular knife, including a pocket knife both of which have a max length of 6cm(2.3in). Their "blade weapon" laws are bizarre.
But 'snap blades' break without a whole lot of resistance...especially when extended more than just one segment...whereas a retractable solid-blade utility knife or boxcutter won't just break off like that and can really do some damage. They're also at *least* as concealable... (I wonder if they sell the Gerber EAB in Japan...)

Buildings like that use tempered glass and that shit is hard to break, especially with blunt force, and shatters into teeny tiny pieces. I call bullshit on this anime for that scene.
If the building was getting warped from crumbling, the glass would crack easily. It happens to settling buildings all the time. Her ability could have done it in the same way, shifting the glass.
