The writers already had their way with her. They cut out pretty much all the dark gore that's in the manga series and even changed Rory's introduction. It went from a dark, gritty medieval atmosphere to a light-hearted one.

Yes, it's really sad, hopefully it gets fixed in the bluray release. I feel like it took a lot away from Rory being the apostle of the death god or whatever. In the manga she was taking peoples heads off, in this she just bumps them around. I guess they have to be careful of gore due to when it airs.

In the manga, the group Rory massacres in her intro just finished killing a man and raping and murdering his wife and daughter. The rape was actually shown. Rory spills their guts all over the place. Drags one of the guys by his foot over to the family, has him spend the entire night digging them graves with his bare hands, says a prayer, then kills the man.
