Misleading title. If it were truly beta males, then 1,4,5,6, and arguably 7, 10, and 11 wouldn't be on the list.
Joshiryoku =/= beta. If it was, then Rito, Haruyuki, Tsuna, Shinji, Tatsuro, Ichika, Yuuta Sagewa, etc. And no, knowing how to cook or do household chores doesn't make you a beta, it just makes you not a slob and minimizes the need to rely on others.
This list supposed to show the most generic mc's in anime. I wonder why they include some not-so-generic mc's. They should have included the boring producer-san.

'beta' was what Rift decided on putting in the headline to draw you in. The ranking is based on '女子力'>>'Joshiryoku'>>Woman power.

No where in that ranking does it mention beta, or beta males.
I feel there should be a third option besides "Alpha" or "Beta" for Hideyoshi.

With the exception of Kyon, Junpei (Nyan Koi), Toma, Lupin III, Lelouche and Koyomi (barring Shogunate or Ninja animes) I was starting to think they were all betas... ranking irrelevant.

Looks like the thread ended up quibbling over what exactly a beta is. Slang use is a little different from textbook.
Remember that it's polar to an alpha. Not just "submitting to an alpha", who might have exemplary leadership, but being /prone/ to submission. Arguably, that definition might even stretch to indifferent personalities.
Consider TTGL's Simon, who was VERY textbook beta in earlier episodes. He was sometimes indecisive and timid, but even if he wasn't he still had a perfect beta slot waiting for him: Kamina's little brother.
That's beta, whether it's done manly or not. Someone tell original authors or Rift whoever that "Little brother" is a far better meaning for Beta than "domestic skilled".
The dense and asexual behavior of many harem protags (no one has mentioned Urashima Kentaro) often overlaps, but isn't actually the definition. "Cowardly" behavior is closer yet - but not 100% overlap. Hikikomori characters (Rozen Maiden, NHK) often exhibit beta behavior. One last "unmentioned" is GTO side-character Yoshikawa Noboru, his arc was fairly beta.
No, most of the voted characters aren't alphas, but these days it's customary to be polite more than bossily "proactive".

There is a big problem here. Ppl voted on what they already know and like and not a real rank of who makes a better beta-male like, Nagisa doesnt make any beta behaviour but since its a character draw like a girl with pointy eyes and twin thread hair and famous anime, they gave it lots of votes.
Katanashi in other hand is very beta, cooking, cleaning, workign as waitress and love puppies would fit higher on the topic.
