Anohana? Really? It was predictable to the point of cliche.
First season of Magic Knight Rayearth had a shocking end. Genre shift included.
Also Haibane Renmei
Back in the day we called it "The Twist" or "The Spoiler".
Oh shit..
how did angel beats have a "shocking" ending. It tells you in the third episode how things are going to end.
(spoiler) if no one has seen it yet.
it could have to deal with how he has to stay back while his love goes away on top of how she has his heart.
true, it was obvious.
still, somewhere, M. Night Shamalan is thinking:
"what a tweest!"
That man is a cancer to TV. He ruined Wayward Pines with that ending. When the books had Ethan survive and Pilcher exiled while they go back into the pods for a few thousand years because they realize the Abbies control the Earth. What he gave us was some shitty full circle ending for the TV adaption.
He wants to milk it by having the ending sequelable
Gintama??? But Gintama never ends -_-
Really, Usagi Drop manga had a "better" twist ending (not actually good, just the twist was better) than most of those, and it's not even mentioned?
Evangelion, which ending? There were like 2 re-writes or something (all-in-all 3 endings).
The shocking thing about DeathNote's ending is that it didn't end where is should have.
How is LoveLive's ending shocking? Someone please tell me.
How was the ending of Code Geass shocking? Sure, if you told someone a few episodes in that the MC dies at the end, then that would be surprising, but by the second half of R2, when he's gone full on "Evil Tyrant", his endgame being his death is pretty obvious. Only question is whether or not they'd pull a "he's not really dead" twist at the end, which they at least teased.
Lelouch is dead. His death was planned from the start. His body was sent to the sun with Damocles because the people viewed it their "hate and fear." Taniguchi left the ending scene that way for people to interpret what they saw.
original airing, his living is canon, every showing after, tease.
I didn't see anywhere Chrono Crusade...
Ok, we knew that would someday happen, but not in the last episode.
I admit, I cried.
You made me have some feels...
The feels, Anon. The goddamn feels.
ok, i don't wanna watch Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, cuz look kinda boring. So give me "end" spoliler.
One of the main characters have a disease and died at the end. It's not really shocking since it has been established from the start, but the fact that it didn't turned into some deus ex machina-nobody dies-everyone happy-ending made it somewhat shocking.
How the fuck did Stone Ocean get on there? Did the jojo's subreddit just troll it or something?
Stone Ocean has the best ending of all jojo arcs
angel beats plagio de suzumiya
Tsukoyomi Moonphase.
The shocker - a 20 something year old getting it on with that 13 year old vampire. (Truly a shocker all right, didn't expect them to go there, but they did.)
Video Girl Ai - actually deserves some recognition in this category. Unlike the pathetic 6 Episode anime OVA, the manga series actually delivered a lot of interesting twists that left one questioning was Ai Amano going to be abandoned? I'd say the same thing about Katsura's carbon copy manga I''s he wrote later (except the fact that it really WAS a carbon copy series minus the VHS aspect of it.) Seriously wondered how good an anime this might have been had they put some serious money behind it and actually gave it a 26 Episode series instead of that half-baked 6 Episodes. (Funny how I''s was given the same treatment of 6 Episodes, and yet it seemed to cover all it needed to.)
Sorry to look like a 60 yo, but actually
Kimagure orange road has one of the best twist in the anime genre.(Madoka knew everything about him all along)
Naruto "shocking ending" =D
What is shocking about Kuroko's ending?
Gintama???
Troll entry???
The Absolute Destiny Mindfuck was realized in the movie, Adolescence of Utena.
AnoHana was tear inducing, yes. But shocking? Are you kidding me? Menma's dead and it's all about her friends granting her her final wish. What's there to be shocked about? That pretty much everyone ended up in tears?
Ditto for LoveLive? What's so shocking about an Idol anime? (Besides μ's deciding to disband at the end, which is bittersweet, but hardly "shocking". )
Naruto - Everything is pretty much predictable, just as Kishimoto had intended. Hardly shocking.
Do the makers of this poll even know the definition behind the word "shocking"? Or are they intending to "shock" us with how "shockingly" poor the wording of this poll is?
That shitty Magic Warfare is listed? And can we not kid ourselves here? Naruto wasn't so shocking to be on this list.
>6. Death Note
Why? Ryuk told Light from the start that he'd be the one to kill him. Not to mention Light having a constant goal of killing L shouldn't be surprising when he manipulates Rem to kill him.
Holy crap this list is shit. I agree that School Days does need to be up there though, but pretty much all the rest need to be taken down.
1. oreimo for me.
Gantz.. Like what the fuch?
And Berserk...*troll*
fuck gantz ending man. Beast manga and they go and ruin it in a rush ending.
The Gantz manga was pretty funny. Americans being Americans had the Aliens fucking each other on the spaceship before blasting their heads off.
If Shigatsu's ending shocked you, you're just daft. They telegraphed that ending so hard it lost any meaning when it actually happened.
IKR. I got that the bitch will die the moment she fainted for the first time.
In almost everyone on this, a major/principal character dies.
By the way Ga Rei: Zero has the most shocking first episode ever.
Ga Rei: Zero and Blue Gender were very similar in that regard. "Oh look at these guys that are totally going to be main characters....oh, nevermind."
The chick on the bike was badass, though.
More like most confusing
LOL NO. Ga Rei Zero was predictable as fuck.
Love Live? what???
????????????
Watch the movie.
School idols in New York? How shocking....
... "Watch the movie"
No released in BD/DVD yet.
Sorry for not being in Japan.
What is the socking part in Love Live?
