An English-subbed trailer has been revealed for the upcoming 20th anniversary Yu-Gi-Oh! movie entitled “Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions”, bringing back the characters from the original series as well as the vicious rivalry between Yugi and Seto that will inevitably spawn a duel of epic proportions. (or at least, however epic a children’s card game can allow)

Yugi is one sad kid... he's not even the one playing, he lets some ancient spirit do all the work while it's possessing his body.
If you have seen the last Season from Yu-Gi-Oh!,
Yugi had to defeat the ancient spirit in a duel to redeem him. Yugi is strong too. He has defeated Slifer, Obelisk, Ra and also the Black Magician.

He actually is the one playing.
Atem left his body at the end of the series, and its Very obvious that he was using his own body, and not Atem.
Confidence thing right? Yugi is quite a shy kid and probably needed the spirit for courage.
Pretty sure Yugi is aware of whats going around him while the Spirit is playing. That said, I'm sure there's some inner monologue shit going on between the two characters which likely isn't shown.

The abridged movie arguably better than official released movie.

Never really got into YGO, only a few episode are highly rewatchable. Watched it when no other anime is on, but damn, 20 years already? So this is what it feels like getting old.
