Isn't the Virtual Reality MMORPG part of this game only 5 min long and only during the 1st episode? Because right now it is more of a sent to another world type of setting.
More like virtual reality became reality for real.
You are right. And I love this kind of setting. Especially with characters like Albedo. :p
Got to say, Not a fan of Albedo. For two reasons. Keep thinking of the Albedo from Xenosaga. AND...
That mouth. Is she part Lamprey!?
Goth-loli-perv-vamp FTW! W/E her name was:D
When a source is adapted into Anime, there is process known as Character Design, which depends greatly on the art styles of the artist doing this job. If it's done by a well-known veteran artist, chances are you will see some similar trails from other works. Every individual's perception of arts differ, especially when rendering details on the faces.
Sort of. It's like 90% fantasy world, 10% mmo, because non-main cast characters (ie: from the new world) mention things like character levels and traits and rpg terms and shit.
Yeah. Basically, anyone who compares this to SAO or LH is an idiot.
Why?
What are the prerequisites for comparison?
Given that the premise of LH is that the world they live in was based on the MMO but it isn't the MMO, comparisons between the two of them are very plausible. You're right about comparing to SAO.
They are both sourced from light novels about people being transported into a game. That is all you need for comparison. Will you say that a painting of a brown cow and a picture of a spotted cow must never be compared because comparison is privilege for the practically identical?
If you take the age of the cows into consideration, then yes you can't compare them as a whole. Every medias out there has their intended age groups. Just because a singer has knowledge of music doesn't mean that person is into all genres of music, he/she may only chose to focus on one or two genres which cater to a group of fans who are into this styles.
If I wanted to sound rude then I'd say people like you are ignorant or think that everything is make for one age group. Now, doesn't that sounds like I'm generalizing, since we're all human beings?
its more like log horizon than it is like sao
Amusingly, a few VAs from Log Horizon are also in Overlord
Momonga --> Isaac
Albedo --> Marielle
Demiurge --> Kazuhiko
Aura Bella --> Akatsuki
Gazef Stronoff --> Woodstock W
This is one good anime.
Loving the twist, instead of playing hero like other MMO turned reality anime now the protagonist is playing the big bad.
I'm really digging this so far, let's see when something actually starting developing, for now they've been setting up the characters and setting, which is fine, I like it.
That third pic, I can't help but add:
Goth Vamp: H20!
Albedo: GATOR ADE!
Remembed Log Horizon, and pls god left this series be similar to that, and dont turn into a shitty SAO or Chaos crap.
Pd: The faces of Albe and Shalltear are epic XDXDXD.
As usual, characters named Albedo are crazy af.
Database database.
I think this anime is going to be a sleeper hit this summer. God Eater, Monster Musume and Dragonball are going to be the top shows for this season imo...
After hack//sign, practically all mmo become real anime have OP protagonists, which makes it meaningless to include a mmo theme, afterall what is the purpose of mmo without the grind and betting your life n death on the competence of your fellow adventurers. If the protagonists are overpowered, whats the fun.
My guess is that 15 seasons/series isn't as appealing these days, people actually want to get to the point.
Which is funny, considering this anime is definitely "not getting to the point".
2 episodes in the protagonist still doesn't even have a goal.
His goal is to find if there are another person stuck in the game like him, and to figure out what the heck is happening to the game.
The MMO setting mostly done because it is a multiplayer game, so it possible to include more people stuck into the game. Not because it mmo is grind-y.
The first third of a movie is usually characterization: characters are introduced and described. He does not need a well defined goal yet.
You have to remember that Anime studios aren't just targeting audiences who has read the story from other sources etc manga or novel, they would have already went bankrupt if that were the case. Character development is crucial for all story-telling, otherwise things would be confusing when the plot starts kicking in, giving people all the more reasons to criticize them.
SAO premise was already pretty stupid if you know anything about computers, but this? He didn't log off so he stayed in game? I can't even.
What nugget of computer knowledge has made Sword Art unpalatable for you?
You are a fucking idiot. These are god damn animes. Only a brain dead fucktard would even try to bring any kind of real world shit into this. Please just drive off a cliff.
Excuse me for wanting consistent writing. If you use MMO as your base reference to build your world, you better don't make shit up that clearly makes no sense. "it's anime, so it's ok if the writing is shit." Idiots.
Firstly, "you better don't"? Secondly, since when does the technology of a fictional world have to adhere to our own technological standards? For all we know they probably don't even make toast with toasters in their world.
Nobody ever said "it's anime, so it's ok if the writing is shit". You are delusional.
SAO is set in a futuristic fantasy world which is nothing like our real world. How would you feel if I tried to restrict your freedom of expression? It is a piece of fictional work, by now people should have already realized this but apparently people like you still existed...
Yes, by your logic, the supposed action you won't take applies to everyone. Know what, I will not write something as stupid as your comment (and the rest of the population globally HAS the same mindset as me) lol.
The anime that added a new phrase to the English language: "underwear crisis".
Every time some idiot need to compare new anime to sao
