The impending Gundam announcement that has been teased for the last few weeks has finally been unveiled in the form of “Kidou Senshi Gundam Tekketsu no Orphans” (Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans); the newest addition to the mighty mecha series that is Gundam.
The news came from a live stream event by Sunrise that also gave viewers a first look at the upcoming series with its first trailer:
The new Gundam series is slated to air October 4th.

I was hoping for a continuation of the Seed Universe. Reading the title I thought it would revolve around the grown up orphans that Lacus and Kira helped take care of for a while. October marks the 10 year anniversary when Destiny ended. Guess will have to wait another 5 years to see a movie or final season to properly end the series. Fafner got a second season 10 years after the first one so it is possible.
What more do you want from the Seed universe? As long as Kira Yamato and his overpowered 1 hit kill Gundam are around, he'll rape any and all enemies with ease.

1)They need to stop to copy-paste outer shape/colors of gundam over and over again. Enough with white frame with blue/red adds for the main body. There were so many interesting desighs in a lot of gundam series, but they never tried to implement it for the main robot. And military robot do not have such bright colors.
2)Stop with clueless teenage boys, who went on a stroll, fall down and got in pilot cockpit. There were good series with grown-up pilots, or teenagers, who had belivable facts(hard training, accelerator brains, etc) why they can pilot like aces. Why in resent years they changed back to idiots as MC I don't know.
There is a story for that. Supposedly, For the first Gundam series, the creators wanted to give the Gundam an urban all white and grey color scheme, but the main sponsor, the now defunct Clover toy company who only cared about toy sales, forced the staff to give the Gundam the now (in)famous "parade" colors so that the toys they put out (which were apparently based on early designs, and were not accurate at all to the show) would catch the eyes of young children. It has since just become a traditional thing. Despite all the drama and action the franchise is known for, at the end of the day, all it is is one huge toy commercial.
Because they want to appeal to younger audiences, and younger audience likes shit.
Well, given that we see this (supposed) kid piloting mook units, I'm inclined to believe this situation is far more complicated than it looks.

Why are they so content with raping the Gundam franchise like this? Gundam AGE flopped, Build Fighters(While decent) kinda flopped(Talking about sales more than anything). The only decent Gundam shows lately seem to be high budget OVAs like Origin and Unicorn.
Is it too much to ask for Sunrise to make a Gundam series with a good budget and normal character designs? While Gundam 00 wasn't that great, I'd accept a Gundam series with character designs in that style.

Are you sure about that? Because Gundam Origin Volume 1 got 48,031 first week on Blu Ray and continues to sell a steady amount. Let's just imagine it averaged around 6000 yen retail more or less. Times that by 48,031 and you have 288 million yen, which is 2.32 million dollars. Not something you can really ignore..

for me 00 was marvelous compared to all the recent gundams. Build fighter was ok but really childish and dumb. AGE had a cool background plot and that thing about using different generations but still kinda a let down.
Recongista was utterly shit. A waste o time and money.
The best for me in recent gundams is still SEED. Unbeatable.
On the same note: I do think the animation quality ans character design for this one is good compared to AGE/Build fighter/Recongista.

Trivia time: TSR is KyoAni before the Moe-boom. And there is material beyond TSR to be animated but Gatou is buddies with people at KyoAni and they've complained mecha to their standards is too hard.

So you're saying a show's quality is determined by its art, and not by its themes, characters, and story? I Guess that makes first Gundam garbage, doesn't it?

The art alone doesn't make a series. Gundam AGE wasn't a disappointment because of the different art style. It was a disappointment because of poor planning and pacing of the three stories that made up the show, because AGE was being handled by people who knew more about making video games than anime. They openly admitted to trying to give AGE the plot pacing of a video game, which, obviously, didn't go over well. Even with the kid-friendly art style, 3 generation gimmick, and poor planning, AGE was still a traditional Gundam series, in that it was treated as a fairly serious, and sometimes fairly dark drama about two sides waging a war for completely understandable, though also completely stupid, reasons, with named characters dying on both sides.
Build Fighters has been said to have been made in retaliation for the poor reception of AGE, and was aimed at children with a child-friendly art style and became a comedic fantasy action series, though it still had drama, likable characters with respectable and understandable motivations, and 1-on-1 battles that I dare say may even be more intense than the more serious shows, perhaps solely because no one in the show was in danger of getting killed. With all of that, GBF was successful enough to warrant a somewhat lackluster sequel.
Despite being handled by Tomino himself, with the art team behind Turn A Gundam and Eureka 7/AO, Reconguista in G was a very sore disappointment because of piss poor pacing and a very convoluted plot that would have only been ideal for a show at least double its length, which Tomino actually acknowledged and apologized for.
