In what may be seen as a boon to SEGA’s Asian market but feels like a low blow to western fans, the video game publisher has announced an upcoming anime adaptation of their signature MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2, which is already being met with harsh criticism from westerners who have been wondering about the game’s missing English localization.
Also announced is that Neptunia Vs Sega Hard Girls is joining the other PSO costume collaborations which sadly English-speaking fans will once again have to miss out on:
No further details have been released, but the official teaser site posts an air date of some time in 2016.
I used to play PSO2 in the SEA server. Farming in-game money over and over gets laborious and tiresome and repetitive, doing the same thing every day again and again and again, even if I have a team to help me. I lost interest.
It bores me that SEGA gives players higher maximum dmg capability almost every patch to cover for unskilled players so they won’t quit playing at late game, instead of telling them to actually learn how to fight. (JP server)
How bad are these players? say, a player use War Cry to pull mobs to to get a dmg buff, attack mobs once, hen run the sh*t away, afraid of dying, dragging mobs and bosses out of other player’s attack range. worse? he’s proud of this.
Yeh that’s pretty much every mmo game ever. I think every gamer falls into that. I quit years ago and only play games that are worth my time now.
You played on a server in the ocean????
piece of s♥♥t. same vibe as the bns anime but at the game being actually good unlike pissoff2thewesterners
Hey, Blade & Soul anime was actually decent.
Dude in the front makes me think of Gantz… never played the games or watched or read Phantasy star in any way so I suspect it’s supposed to be the other way round a little.
There are similarities, but gantz suits are fully textile, not plated.
Man, Liam is gonna be pissed.
…Wasn’t expecting to see this here. Pat’s gonna owe him like $2000 by the end of this.
STILL waiting for the western release.
Dude, pso2 is on open beta on western side.
Just looked it up. Shocked that it wasn’t on Steam, considering the amount of support they could get from Valve that would make them so much money.
I played the beta and wasn’t impressed with it. Weapon handling feels off, melee has no weight to it, my brick-bot moves like a butterfly. My suspension of disbelief was stretched to breaking point.
fk steam
Whenever you get tired of waiting for a western release, or give up on there ever being one, here’s a guide on getting started on the Japanese server.
Make sure you start in Ship 2, where the English community is.

PSO2 sits snuggling alongside the Tales of Vesperia PS3 English edition.
