Did the scout the dub cast from local highschools?
Maybe there doesn't even exist an American voice actor, who would sound evil enough as Kirei. This one certainly doesn't.
He gets pretty close, although he's lacking Nakata Jouji's signature depth.
Keith David or any of the VAs that do Darth Vader could probably pull it off, but those guys ain't cheap.
Liam Nelson can actually do that.
>Dub
No thanks!
Amen brother!!! english dub is the reason dumb anime fans think anime is created in america.
and boy i can sure tell there are some dumbass fans out there. those dumbass fans are also the reason why some anime games get no releases.
I've personally stopped buying games if they have no accompanying Japanese voice track.
Too bad, really, as I've never played the second Zone of the Enders game.
i know how you feel i stopped buying them also if they don't have japanese dub track i also don't buy em. but be carefull cause bandai namco is doing nothing but using dubtitles meaning fake words that don't even relate towards what is being said in japanese.
but i did play zone of enders 2 i started the whole no buying if there is no japanese dub during ps3 times.
which is sad, cause it's not TOO bad.
but it doesn't matter if it has a sub or not, since it's aniplex most likely and will not be purchasable.
Too bad, really, that only get to play one or two games a year.
I can understand where the anti-dub crowd is coming from but if I wanted to read the anime I would just pick up the manga.
Look, it is a fact.
Normal white actors fail to voice act, but successfully act theatrically.
Normal asian actors successfully voice act, but fail to act theatrically.
Notice how I said normal. Normal is what tight budget anime dubbing studios usually hire, they are not hiring A-lister Hollywood staff.
Actually normal "western" actors with normal voice casting and work could pull it off, much less real voice actors. Here we have equivalent of people from street picked up at random.
Same for asian actors - they can act theatrically (in our sense), they just don't learn how to act like that because they have different (bad, imo) acting standards for it.
Reading fast, it is a life skill. Acquire the power.
Even still, it's much easier to appreciate/get more into the show you're watching when you only need to listen. But when the dub is done by people that just don't seem to match the characters it usually does ruin the whole experience. The dubs on this trailer 'seem to be decent', excluding Tohsaka's voice, it makes me cringe a little.
You aren't actually "reading" the subs, it just makes the voices become English. I know this sound weird, so instead think of it like how it is to being able to speak in another languish on the same level as your own native languish. You don't actually convert each word it your head you just understand them, the same thing happens when you learn to read subs.
Reading subs is like biking.
Listening to dubs is like biking with training wheels.
Dubbing increases ease and accessibility. Sure you want people to quick start/jump into/auto-launch into the anime. Just like everyone wants to ride a bicycle without the need to train, but part of training is earning the ability ride a bicycle with minimal assistance. Sometimes, voice actors are really bad training wheels and the good voice actors are those flexible training wheels.
Riding a bike without training wheels is the way it was originally meant to be, without any assistance and moving with your own ability to balance and pedal so you gain more freedom of mobility.
Watching anime with subs is the way it was meant to be, without dub assistance and comprehending with your own ability to read fast so you gain the Japanese experience and culture.
Now if you want to go bareback on that bike, you need to learn Japanese. The REAL way to experience Anime. You don't need to learn it in a formal setting, simply watching anime with competent subtitles will make you learn it. In a sense the subs are training wheels to learning Japanese.
Archer does not sound sexy enough.
No Liam O'Brien for Archer huh? Or are my ears tricking me?
RIP only decent Fate english voice actor.
Japanese

English > Japanese
Fixed
Your "fix" broke the build.
Broke it to the max. So bad I am ashamed to reply to you in English.
Problem with dubbing in general, besides it being horrible is that companies like Funimation reuse the same people in each of their shows, who aren't that great to begin with.
Monica Rial, Todd Haberkon, Luci Christian, Hillary Haag, and a few others that are kinda terrible and lack range, yet have a legion of fags calling them great VAs lol.
Josh Grelle isn't that bad though, he was reasonably decent as Sadou Mao in Devil is a Part Timer.
Wow, the dub is actually bad. I usually think people saying that are just Japanese fanboys, but this time it's actually bad.
Wait, till the entire anime comes out, if that's not too much to ask.
It is, actually. Would be too annoying for the fans if the actor gets changed so it's pretty much an impasse.
dubs are almost always awkward. Only time when they're good is when someone's going for funny.
I closed it as soon as he started talking lol. Its so bad....
yay, time to fap to Mela's voice again!
sad that we can't fap to Liam's.
Oh thank god I'm not the only one who has fapped to Mela. She's actually black, never saw it coming. Then I realized her voice is beyond race- thats why she's so good
My ears are bleeding.
Bryce Papenbrook? No fucking thank you. Most mediocre voice actor imo.
I'm not a dub hater but this one is genuinely awful
Only with just eng dub FSN turned into garbage.
when I compare the sub from the dub, the dub lacks emotion in their dialogues compared to the sub. My own opinion.
Wow, that is pretty awful. Not only the voice acting but the audio mix as well.
I don't care about this shit. Just give me HF already.
I hear you man. Though, for he sake of converting my buddies into liking fate series, I still kinda want them to watch this subbed rather then dubbed.
Kinda laughed a bit when I heard the dub actor for Bang Shishigami from BlazBlue towards the end, but other than that, my god. Rin = not even close.
As a matter of fact, heard a few BlazBlue dub cast in this.
