It's funny but so sad that so many morons don't remember the basics. A crappy TV will give you crappy results. If you have to wait for the BDs or very high quality fansubbed media file even the best player won't save you.
It looks at least as good as this, you just didn't have good PC display or you streamed the episode on some website, or otherwise did not watch the 1080p version ;p In which case you have been sorely missing out.

This had to be the worst episode of any fate series, just everything about it was just bad and bland. I think the original fate stay night was better then this one. This one had amazing animation and art but the fight scenes and story where just terrible.

What happened to Gilgamesh is that after removing Shinji as the core of the grail, it tried to latch onto anything that could be used as a substitute and ended up latching onto Gilgamesh who, being a Servant given physical body, could not serve in that capacity. That is why it ended up consuming him.

Gilgamesh doesn't need mana to survive in the world. Bathing in the grail in the previous war gave him a physical body. He didn't run out of mana, and would've killed Shirou if the grail didn't try to take his body and Archer intervening.
