While inevitably VN to anime adaptations will lose a lot of content, DR1's anime dropped too much, so fans of the game were left disappointed and newcomers were left confused. They may not want to do that again.
As well, Monokuma's voice actress Nobuyo Ōyama fell ill this spring (bless her), so that may complicate things.
As for why y'all are complaining about the face, it does have more realistic proportions than the official art style (smaller eyes, lower nose). I personally like it; my only complaint is that the ears are way too high up. Lovely figure.
