Shenmue III Kickstarter Funded in One Day

Initially revealed during Sony’s E3 press conference, the newly arrived Kickstarter for the long hoped for Shenmue III has managed to secure its $2 million goal in the span of a single day – an impressive feat that well demonstrates the incessant desire for a sequel from loyal Shenmue fans.
Despite having a goal of a mere $2 million, it has been stated the original game required a staggering $47 million for completion – though it has also been revealed that Sony themselves are lending a hand with the project, perhaps solving any potential monetary issues (and leaving open the question of why it needed a Kickstarter in the first place).

Those who would like to contribute to the Kickstarter can still do so now – Shenmue III is tentatively slated for a release in December of 2017 for PS4 and PC.

Definitely! Sega should jump on the bandwagon and make a
few bucks at the same time by bringing out a Shenmue/ShenmueII combo for the PS-4/Vita. Even if it's a straight port without a remaster.
Throw in a soundtrack disk and DVD that came with the
X-Box Shenmue-II and you're golden!

^^^ This. They tell us they don't want to risk. What fucking risk? Are they insane? Shenmue 3 is practically 100% bound for success. $3 millions in 24 hours!!! That was so fucking obvious the game was DESIRED.
It just tells how little publishers know about actual gamers and their wishes. Making all the shit insted of really relevant games and then wondering why it sells so poorly. What a retards, they should all fucking die and give wasy to kickstarter to fund all future projects.
The kickstarter could also have been simply a test of sorts to gauge if there was enough actual demand to put resources into the project
most likely the kickstarted was just a way to see if people are interested in the game. sony won't invest money if nobody cares about it.

For anyone who actually played and enjoyed Shenmue back then, every sandbox style game since has only made them want more Shenmue. Yakuza 5? I wish it was Shenmue. GTA5? I wish it was shenmue. The want was always rekindled. The gap never got big.

Seeing the rewards and the timing, this looks more like a preorder instead of a real kickstarter...
People are saying that the kickstarter was to see if there was REAL interest in actually doing the game. Anyone thinking 2 million is enough to make a game, SPECIALLY NOWADAYS, of the scope of Shenmue's ambitions is enough is at least delusional....now taht the main target was met, Sony did came out and said they are going to help with the development and such...
while we're at it they should make the prequels available as well...
