Footage of highly awaited Dragon Ball Z continuation Dragon Ball Super has arrived to hopefully hype up long-time fans of the series, naturally showcasing some of the show’s beloved characters while also leaving fans clueless as to what the new anime will feature.
The rather brief trailer:
The reappearance of Beerus and Whis from the “Battle of the Gods” movie has all but confirmed that the dangerous fighters are now canon to the series – Dragon Ball Super’s legendary advent will be in July.

>new threat emerges
>everybody fights lesser enemies
>goku trains to get stronger
>new threat beats everyone
>vegeta has a cool moment right before going down like a bitch
>goku shows up just in time
>beats new threat
>rinse and repeat for new arc
There we go, now your expectations have been lowered to satisfactory levels. Enjoy!
You forgot the part where an old threat becomes an ally when the new threat comes
This sort of thing pretty much applies to every ongoing/long shonen series.
Not every one.
The DBZ formula everyone knows is not a problem, given that the content is actually interesting, but Super looks like it will offer little more.
Judging by the last two movies, no it won't. Goku kills a depowered Frieza after being sent back in time. Practically stealing a kill from Vegeta out of necessity. Basically sums up what this franchise is about now. It's like pottery.
People still watch this garbage and think its actually good? I haven't seen a shounen anime thats 25 or more eps that doesn't follow that exact pattern, its usually bad guy shows up, main char gets ass kicked, for some reason the bad guy lets him live, main char finds some way to get new power and grunts/trains for 75% of the arc, all to end up in a overly drawn out fight that could have been ended if he used the power right away insted of a last resort. The ONLY time in a shounen anime I have seen where the power was legit meant to be a last resort was at the end of the bleach anime vs aizen, he'd loose all his shinigami powers if he used it. Thats the only time in any shounen anime I have seen where the main char had a legit reason to save it as a last resort.
And this is how fanboys worldwide are made to keep paying for something that should be kept as it ended...and they will love it...
So you are saying GT is how it should have ended?
And to be fair, DBZ never ended in Japan. It's as popular and celebrated there as Star Wars or Batman is in the west. You can't be all uppity about them boasting on of their biggest cult classics.
GT? Wazzat
More like as celebrated as the usual braindead western popcorn flicks like anything by Michael Bay. Actually maybe it is comparable to Star Wars going by how they're both franchises that started off promising but ended up becoming self parodies to a lot of people as they were forced to continue past their prime.
Digimon, Dragon Ball, Jurrasic Park, blablabla
What year is it?
Them late 90s though,it was the best era of mankind so far.
Good. Something has to save the kids from shit like kiddie sitcoms, twilight, and Dragon Ba... oh wait.
leave Goku alone!
Kantai Collection and Spice and Wolf will be better.
Sigh, i was expecting it to be after Pan was born and uub was recruited. The ending for this thing is obvious since we saw the time skip in the DBZ anime and manga.
This show will have the oldest voice cast in the world. Lots of them are in their 60s-80s.
Let me save you 100+ DBZ Super episodes:
This "new" "Toriyama involved" series is spoiled as hell, because we know everything is going to be alright, and none is dying, not even Krillin at the end, why? well... we already know that by the time Uub shows everyone in the world seems to be ok.
So this is just a big filler.
It's disappointing, because some people were expecting a REAL continuation to the series, not this crap.
Still better than that anime to love ru with that idiotic male.Dragon Ball Z or One Piece are gods of all animes.Deal with it!
I wish toriyama reboot the DBZ... what happen if future trunks did not come and goku saves the world anyway...
Isn't Goku supposed to have no longer the regular Super Saiyajin Transformation, since he channels now divine Ki?
There are also plenty of gods of destruction in the various universes. I suspect they will be enemies for God level Goku + Vegeta.
You mean Gohan, right?
Because the one who got the power after breaking that stupid sword was Gohan, not Goku.
No, he's talking about Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS) (Dumb name, I know)transformation that Goku and Vegeta used in the new Resurrection of F movie. Basically, it looks exactly the same as the SS1 form, but with blue hair, which was the result after they ascended to SSG and trained with Whis. From the initial sounds of things, this one extra form was meant to completely replace and override all other SS transformations, planting the idea that Goku and Vegeta would no longer be able to assume the original gold-haired SS forms. A lot of people are assuming that Super is supposed to bridge the gap between BoG and RoF due to a couple of things in the new character and promotional art that was just released where the cast looks exactly like they did in BoG, from the clothes to the gold-haired SS forms to Krillin's hair.
Oh, right, the movie ... yeah, I didn't watch it so I didn't know, thanks for that.
This show will fail, I can feel it in my loins.
Videl looks hot...MILF Status hands downs...
Bulma and Chichi became milfs in DBZ... Videl hardly is comparing, here. She still looks like a little girl tbh.
Might disagree with you there. I don't know if it's always been this way and I haven't noticed, but since BoG, all of the characters' body proportions seem very off, as if their bodies shrunk, but their heads grew larger. I also don't really care much for Videl's new hairstyle. I honestly think Toriyama could have given her literally any other hairstyle (dad afro included), and it would look better than the style she has now.
I agree with you.
Pan sure dress more conservative way than she did in gt.
thats Videl
Are you mistaking Videl for Pan, or are you saying that Videl's womb is the most conservative clothing she's ever worn?
Pan is already out of the womb at this point she was already born fighting in a tournament at the end of Z
But from the looks of things, this series is set between the events of the BoG and RoF movies. Videl was in early stages of pregnancy with Pan in BoG (which was used as a convenient plot device to allow Goku to ascend to SSG), and she gave birth to her shortly before RoF. In this series, it seems as though Videl may still be in the early stages of her pregnancy, as the only promotional art we have of them only shows Gohan and Videl together, but Pan is still nowhere to be seen.
An so the hype train begins
Ho...
who you callin ho?
in some ways its great they are pretty much denying GT even existed.... but on the other hand its sorta rediculous the series is being brought back from the dead for no good reason other than milking more money from the now aging fanbase.
They aren't making this for the rest of the world, DBZ was never dead in Japan.
DB*
The success of the movie is the reason for this.
BILLS APEARS? YES!!!
Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku Saiyan Man
okay, now they reboot/revive something anime in the 90s,how about Dr. Slump?
Not enough interest for the westerners.
leave those westerners to the Kardashians and so-called reality TV crap they made.
Or, you know, DBZ. They only love DBZ... they couldn't care less for classic DB and Dr. Slump. Not enough facing getting smashed.
I rather would like some Ranma 1/2 remake but considering the censorship these days...would be full of censor lightbeams.
