Nintendo have released a musical PV of their upcoming “Splatfest” event for their new and highly popular game “Splatoon“, featuring a “bizarre” musical performance by the title’s ink-based idols – and naturally showcasing plenty of the game’s ink-splattering action as well.

The “Splatfest” will occur this weekend for Japanese players, with USA servers to have their turn the following weekend, and Europe the weekend after that.

Bizarre? That's the second phase of the final boss music when the Squid Sisters come to help you out. Also it's one of the best tracks in the game.

They took concepts like Unfinished Swan / Mario Sunshine, Bloopers from Super Mario and packaged it with awesome movement mechanics in an 3rd-person-shooter. (Movement in shooters is paramount!)
Solid concept design led to this. :)

If only this was for ANY other console and not exclusively only for the Wii-U.
Why not have a Wii U instead of any other console? It's as if some ppl think Nintendo consoles come with some kind of social disease... It's always been like this. If an awesome game comes out for a console you don't have, then try to find a way to get the console. This is made by Nintendo so there's never going to be any other way to play it besides on a Nintendo console. I'm betting one day there'll be a 3DS version, though.
Er...I was only saying that because the Wii-u only has 2-3 games i would want to play, which for me isn't enough to buy a new system.
And even if it came out on 3DS, it won't receive the same support like it does on the Wii-u.
Not to mention every thing will be downsized and look horrible.

Say... does this game make meaningful use of the tablet controller? (And I'm really sad that I have to ask if the new controller that differentiates Big N from the rest is even used properly, but up till now, they haven't used it themselves, except for that one tech demo game.)
Kirby's Rainbow Curse and Nintendoland, man. Game and Wario would have sucked without it too. Of course, I'd have preferred a real Wario Ware game that used the game pad, tho. I also love all the games that allow for 1 vs 4 scenarios.
Multiplayer on same console has one player using the TV and the other using the tablet screen, but I only read that from a review so I have no idea if it has any other use.
For me it does. Can touch the map on the tablet to squidjump to allies or your base. Also, while you move with the sticks, you can aim by moving the gamepad itself. They say aiming this way can be compared to using a mouse over dual analog.
