Nintendo have announced a free upcoming DLC outfit for its recently released third-person shooter “Splatoon“, as the popular cephalopod overlord Ikamusume makes her debut into the rather ink abundant title as the theme of the outfit.
Ikamusume creator Masahiro Anbe had previously depicted his squid girl alongside the characters of Splatoon for Shonen Champion magazine as well as Famitsu, so the collaboration is not entirely unexpected.

if i recall only for japan. most likely minimal chance off west release like with so many other anime related DLC.
If they did release this DLC I might consider getting it but yeah unlikely to see a western release. =/
The servers are shared, so the outfits will need to be on the western games to show properly. I hope that we either get it, too, or get an appropriately cool equivalent.
I remember being surprised back when Lolipop chainsaw released in the west with the anime-related cosplay outfits remaining intact. It's rare but not impossible.
There may be a chance it could release outside of Japan. Since the online is global, we'll end up seeing Japanese players wearing the DLC outfit, so it'll be installed in our game. Unless they make a different DLC outfit for us, and when Japanese players use it, we see "our" version instead.
Remember, this is Nintendo, the company who in 2015, still thinks that a Region Lock is neccesary.

If it's like ordinary "Gear" then you may be able to order it from the in game street dealer. The game has a feature where you can buy outfits that other players use

Mario Kart 8 got the free Mercedes dlc outside Japan. I wouldn't count this out.
They'll release it outside of Japan, but they'll tie it to an amiibo so rare that the only way you'll ever get it is by forking over $100+ to a scalper on Ebay.
