Veteran monster trackers may wish to brush up on their skills as a new brand new Monster Hunter game has been announced for the 3DS, simply entitled “Monster Hunter X” and sure to offer the same highly loved and extremely deadly monster battles synonymous with the series.
A trailer has been released, giving eager hunters a preview of the game in action:
Monster Hunter X will arrive this winter for the 3DS, in Japan at least – there has been no mention of a western release as of yet.

How do so many of you not have a 3DS?!?

I have one but mainly for Pokémon. The only game other than Pokémon I've played is Bravely Default. I don't even own a PS3, PS4 or Xbox. I have PC for the best graphic and tablet (android and iOS) for games that are for fun. Not to mention the next Nintendo device will run Android...so yea.... it's sad but as technology progress (in term of software), something must go for the greater good. At least this is what I believe and I can be wrong.

the lack of mh4 on wiiu is the only thing stopping me from getting the console. Never liked handheld mh. Just doesn't feel right.

So is this just mh4 with a new base map and a few added monsters are areas or a whole new game?
Knowing capcom, it's the former.
They added playstyles for each weapon, so each weapon that used to have a single moveset now has 4 different movesets. Pretty cool sounding to me.
A lot of the rest seems the same, I saw several returning monsters and 5 returning maps in the video. There are only like, 10 maps in mh4u.
I think the movesets and monsters is enough to market a new game compared to the last change. This last one added verticality to the maps and added a few new features, 2 weapons and got rid of the damn water levels and added a better single player campaign and that was enough.

I did watch the video but I have yet to play mh4 for this very reason so I wasn't sure what was added. The article makes it sound like it's a brand new game and not a newer version of 4 with some added content (the jp model for dlc).
The alternative move sets do sound interesting though. I also notice some of the towns from the previous titles show up, which is a neat tie in.

Higher installed base, more MH fans already have a 3DS due to the previous games, MH games have been more successful on Nintendo platforms, Capcom is too shitty to even multiplatform anymore, etc.

What makes you think to they announce a western ver, kid? acctualy are only seven releases to western of MH and 2 of them are only expansions (freedom 2 and United), to the EIGHTEEN ...yes EIGHTEEN releases only from Japan of MH????
Thats the usual form...releases 80% of the MH games only from asia.
jfc, do your damn research. MH4U has done extremely well in the west. If we don't get Cross, we're damn sure getting the eventual G version.
