Japan has seen to the creation of yet another bizarre product as toy company Kitan Club offers some stylish pantsu for water bottles, to prevent the condensation-related moistness from soaking surfaces – sure to prove a match for coasters amongst those for whom the prospect of a house guest is a remote one.

The miniscule pantsu can be obtained from capsule vending machines for a mere 200 yen; it has also been revealed that “bottle skirts” will be a future product as well, though their purpose in comparison to the pantsu seem less obvious.

Just another item to distract the Japanese from reproducing with real humans. The Japanese population will keep dwindling until they figure out how to make androids to replace themselves.
Reminds me of the episode of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown where he visits Tokyo. His guide is explaining maid cafes and host clubs to which Bourdain says, "Okay, you have horny women over here and horny men over there. Why don't the two groups just get together and f*ck?"

The IDEA is pretty cool. I hate when it's hot and my water bottles drench my wooden table. But i'm sure there could be a more... neutral version of that thing.
There is a device that prevents condensation from damaging/drenching tables. It's called a coaster (where I'm from anyway, not sure about the rest of the world). I think they've officially been around for about 135 years now.
Alternatively, one could put their bottle in a "stubby holder", as they're known in Australia. It's essentially the same as this pantsu thing, only it works a whole lot better... and it isn't shaped like pantsu.

There was. Back in the 80's, bottles used to have a thick plastic cup glued to the bottom. I assume it was to help prevent tipping and condensation from touching the table. Also remember that this was before widespread recycling so just imagine the metric tons of plastic we sent to the dump.
