These recent Miyuko cosplays are just not doing it for me. Either too much makeup or that plastic surgery. Her earlier cosplays were to die for.

Sorry, but no. All those can be "faked" using makeup, contact lenses, hair dye/wigs and any number of different tools, as long as the "base person" is not too horrid.
Race does not make a cosplay good, skill does. You can see awesome examples anywhere,as well as sorry tries.
