What kept this series from being cliché was not the existence of gods, time travelers, aliens and espers. Those are cliché too. What made it unique was how it subverted the common cliches. None of them look like or act like you would expect from a fiction god, alien, esper or time traveller.
This one is just a generic slice of life in a what if universe...
