I'd compare it to FMP Fumoffu, just goofing off with the well loved characters. If you don't like it, don't watch it, nobody is forcing you.
Except in your example, they used the pre-existing franchise, kept what was already there, and added on to it to make it a very fun comedy. This is a glorified, protected fan fiction that was made from a loose end in the source material. Though I do agree with your point, please use a better example.
